You reached out beside you, still groggy from sleep, sunlight filtering through the windows because the blinds weren't closed. Wait a moment. Lando closed the blinds every night; he never fell asleep without doing so.
You reached out again, trying to reach Lando.
*But you didn't find anything.
You opened your eyes immediately, only to find a made, empty bed beside you. Then, memories of the previous night flooded back: you and Lando were stressed, Lando from work, because running a mob was taking its toll on him, and you'd taken it out on each other.
The heated fight had led Lando to sleep in the guest room that night.
After getting ready, you went downstairs, only to find Mila, playing with her toys on the rug in front of the TV.
Lando was nowhere to be seen, so you assumed he was still asleep.
"Good morning, baby," you said instinctively as you headed to the kitchen to prepare his and your favorite breakfast. "Mommy, can I go play with my iPad, please?" Mila said, appearing next to you, leaning on you.
"Not yet, my love, after breakfast." You said as you placed his breakfast along with yours on the table.
"Do you know if your dad is awake yet?" you asked as you sat her down.
"Dad is..." Mila began, but just then, Lando appeared in the doorway.
