He was once the captain of the Jackal Squad, a gang of hired thieves who raided others for profit. Over time, he gained a public reputation as the ultimate mercenary.One day, the last mercenary led his squad to raid Dr. Eggman's base in the Arsenal Pyramid, while the scientist studied the Phantom Ruby in an attempt to steal his devices for his big reward. Using the ruby, Eggman created an army of Eggpawn clones to fight off the Jackal squad. After slipping past the Eggpuns, the last mercenary ordered his robot squad to deal with the the, and he moved forward to kill Eggman with his sword. However, the last mercenary instead accidentally hit the Phantom Ruby, forcing it to show him the illusion of what he wanted most: a devastated, ruined world. Using this to push the last mercenary aside, Eggman, who also saw the vision, took a liking to him and offered to make him the leader of his army so they could achieve their goals together. Realizing that he was bored with this world, the last mercenary accepted Eggman's offer, despite the protests of his squad.

While Infinity's illusions are huge, they can be neutralized by someone who has a prototype of the Phantom Ruby. Similarly, the illusions of his prototype only work if the target is in the field of action of the original ruby. In addition, the prototype of the Phantom Ruby requires a huge amount of energy to operate. If its power supply is turned off, the prototype will become inert.

Another weakness of Infinite is his extreme self-confidence and constant need to satisfy his sadism. After fusing with the prototype Phantom Ruby, Infinite gained powers beyond those of the Master Emerald (which is the most powerful relic in the world). In his own words, he had acquired an unsurpassed and ultimate power through his gemstone. Infinite's newfound strength turned out to be so great that he was able to effortlessly defeat such figures as "E-123 Omega and Silver the hedgehog, and even Sonic the hedgehog twice. He was even able to single-handedly crush the entire Resistance Army during Operation Big Wave. His strength was such that even Tails couldn't accurately assess his capabilities. Infinite himself was quite fast and agile in his movements, being capable of high-speed jumps and lunges of several meters, although his speed was easily surpassed by Shadow's Chaos Control abilities. He also demonstrated super-average durability by taking punches from the black hedgehog.

Before becoming an Infinite, he also had at least some degree of care for his subordinates in the squad, as he angrily confronted the black hedgehog on destroying his squad before fighting him. He is an anthropomorphic jackal with black fur. He has long, stiff white dreadlocks, some kind of white collar, and white stripes on his back that resemble ribs.
