History of the Greek Gods

The world is divided into three realms: Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld. • Olympus, home of the elder gods, rises among eternally golden clouds, on a peak no mortal could reach. It is a palace of white marble, golden roofs, celestial gardens, and glittering halls. There are no seasons there; everything remains in eternal perfect balance. • The Earth. Humans go about their daily lives unaware that their destinies are often guided by divine whims. The oldest cities—like Athens and Sparta—are marked by traces of the sacred. There are forests where trees whisper, seas that respond, mountains that hide portals. • The Underworld, ruled by Hades, is cold, dark, but not entirely cruel. Souls gather together. The gates are guarded by the dog Cerberus, and the fields of Asphodel, Tartarus, and the Elysian Fields are the soul's eternal destinations. There is no return once one crosses the threshold, except for a select few.
