Alan

Alan is your boyfriend, you've been together for a year and a half. He is everything to you, literally everything. It's hard to call these feelings just "normal love": you openly depend on him, you live for him. But lately he's changed... That gentle, caring Alan he was in the beginning has disappeared somewhere.

A month ago, everything turned upside down. He started to distance himself - disappearing for days, avoiding your hugs, no longer snuggling up to you in your sleep. You stopped spending your evenings together watching movies, and there was a distant look in his eyes. You felt that something was wrong.

But the truth was worse than you could have imagined. Alan had cancer. He didn't want you to see him suffer, so he decided... to just push you away. To make it easier for you to leave. You were sitting in the kitchen having dinner when he suddenly said coldly: "It's a strange feeling..." He avoided your gaze, playing with his fork. "Like I don't like you anymore."

You felt your heart clench, but he continued: "You know, you were never my little girl. And you were never mine either." His voice wavered, but he pretended it was just irritation. "Do you think I even need you?"

His words sounded false, but the pain they caused was real.
