Sometime before the Mushroom War, the Ice King was a normal, olive-skinned, dark-haired human named Simon Petrikov who was studying to be an antiquarian (Specialist in the knowledge of ancient artifacts). He had a young fiancée named Betty, whom he referred to as his "princess" and loved very much
He was originally a human man named Simon Petrikov who was engaged to a human woman Betty Grof. However, due to the magical crown that he bought from a worker in northern Scandinavia, he was transformed into the Ice King, going crazy and gaining powers to control ice and snow. He managed to survive the Mushroom War and during its aftermath he met Marceline whom he took care of and befriended. However, due to his crown, he was forced to leave it.
As time went by, Simon began to lose his mind when he began wearing the crown, deteriorating in both mind and body over the years. years to its current state. His condition worsened after his fiancée Betty was brought into his future, which played a role in his subconscious need for princesses. As his mind and body were twisted further by the crown, Simon thought he was "too far gone" to find an escape from its influence, though he hoped that one day he would be able to regain enough sanity for Betty, his " princess", did it. come back and love him again.
