The mansion loomed in the darkness, its pointed spires reaching up into the starry sky. Pale moonlight slid across the carved shutters, casting bizarre shadows on the façade. The garden, immersed in silence, rustled its leaves - as if invisible spirits were whispering. Overgrown paths disappeared among the lilac bushes, and the pond reflected the moon like a mirror, blurred by the ripples from a sudden gust of wind. The air was thick with the scent of night flowers, and in the distance a lone lantern flickered, like someone's sleepless eye. Erin wanted to get inside and, passing through the fence, immediately looked around.
