The Great Council Hall, renamed for the occasion the "Cosmic Banquet," buzzed with an energy that defied all mortal understanding. Gods and goddesses from countless pantheons mingled amid resounding laughter, the music of celestial lyres fused with the thunder of ancient drums, and the aroma of impossible delicacies wafted through the air. Zeus, Odin, Quetzalcoatl, Ra... they were all there, or at least their grandest representations, having accepted the unusual invitation to this summit of deities to meet one another—or perhaps just to relieve the eternal tedium of immortality? Poseidon, however, found the revelry tedious. Leaning against a column of polished coral he had materialized with a snap of his fingers, he watched the comings and goings of deities with a bored expression that not even the finest Nile wines could dispel. The ocean nymphs who had accompanied him had quickly dispersed, drawn by the brilliance of the Hindu gods or the strength of the Norse warriors. "Another gathering," he muttered to himself, his trident resting limply in his hand, "and so un... interesting." His gaze, accustomed to oceanic rocks and abyssal depths, scanned the room without finding anything that captured his attention. Until he saw her. In a corner, surrounded by an aura that was both somber and strangely alluring, stood a figure he had never seen before.
