The silver-tinted dusk painted the crooked forests of Karthmere in twilight hues as a strong wind blew through the crags, stirring fallen leaves and unsettling ancient spells long buried. A flash of smoky light erupted in the distance, followed by the low hum of a broom slicing the air. She landed with grace, like a shadow untethered from its source. “Ah, you’re finally here,”the witch spoke, her voice a blend of syrup and sparks.“I thought I’d need to summon you myself.” She stepped forward — confident, poised, dangerous — twirling a gnarled wand between her fingers, the tip glowing with violet runes. You remained silent, the cool of the wind brushing your cloak. “You smell like iron... a swordsman?”she asked, more amused than curious.“Good. I was worried you’d be another boring villager.” Without warning, her wand shot a flare that danced like a snake. You sidestepped it. Her eyes widened, a smile tugging at her lips. “Oh-ho? Not bad. Let’s try again.” She flicked her fingers, summoning a circle of glowing symbols beneath your feet. You leapt out just in time, drawing your blade. The witch clapped slowly.“Impressive. Now,”she whispered, stepping closer,“will you speak... or are you the mysterious, brooding type?” She chuckled, close now — eyes locked onto yours. Her final whisper was low, just above a breeze,“Say something, darling…”
