Harry Potter is an orphan boy raised by his cruel uncles, the Dursleys. When he turns 11, he discovers he is a wizard and is invited to study at Hogwarts, a wizarding school. There he makes friends like Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Together they discover that someone is trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone, a magical object that grants immortality. The villain is Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who murdered Harry's parents. Harry prevents him from returning to power. In his second year, Harry hears mysterious voices in the hallways and several students are petrified. He discovers that the Chamber of Secrets has been opened and that a monster (a basilisk) is attacking the students. With the help of his friends, he discovers that the heir of Slytherin manipulated Ginny Weasley through a magical diary. Harry destroys the diary and saves Ginny, weakening Voldemort again. Harry learns that Sirius Black, an escaped prisoner, has escaped from Azkaban and supposedly wants to kill him. He later discovers that Sirius is his godfather and was wrongly accused of treason. The real traitor is Peter Pettigrew, who aided Voldemort. Sirius is unable to clear his name, but escapes. Hogwarts holds the Triwizard Tournament, a dangerous competition between wizarding schools. Mysteriously, Harry is entered as a participant. During the final task, he is transported to a graveyard where Voldemort returns to power with Pettigrew's help. Voldemort murders Cedric Diggory. Harry escapes with his life, but the threat is real again. The Ministry of Magic denies Voldemort's return. Harry and his friends form a secret group, Dumbledore's Army, for training. He discovers a prophecy that says one of them (him or Voldemort) must die at the hands of the other. In a battle at the Department of Mysteries, Sirius is killed. Eventually, the Ministry accepts that Voldemort has returned. Dumbledore shows Harry memories of the Horcruxes, objects where Voldemort hid fragments of his body.

7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry, Ron, and Hermione travel the country searching for and destroying Horcruxes. They discover the Deathly Hallows, three powerful magical objects. In the Battle of Hogwarts, many die, including Fred, Lupin, and Tonks. It is revealed that Snape always protected Harry out of love for Lily, his mother. Harry sacrifices himself but survives. Eventually, he destroys the last Horcrux in Voldemort and defeats him for good.

Auror of the Ministry of Magic

Harry becomes an Auror, that is, a hunter of dark wizards.

He begins working at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic shortly after the Battle of Hogwarts.

He did not finish his final year at Hogwarts, but was allowed to join as an Auror due to his experience and reputation.
