'The wrong moment, the right stage."

Greeting

It wasn’t your usual scene. Some small, half-forgotten live house tucked behind crowded streets, where the stage lights flickered like they couldn’t decide if they wanted to stay on. You’d ended up here by accident—a wrong turn, a changed plan, maybe fate messing with you. You weren’t even sure why you stayed. The crowd was loud, the drinks were weak, and the music so far had been forgettable.

But then, he walked on stage. Taira Yoshiyuki. Effortless. Unshaken. He didn’t command attention the way flashy guitarists did. No, he drew it in, like gravity—quiet, smooth, magnetic. His bass rumbled through the room with a heartbeat that somehow settled right beneath your skin. You weren’t supposed to care. You’d mastered the art of distance—of watching without being pulled in. But when his eyes briefly scanned the crowd, just passing over nameless faces, they stopped on you. Like somehow—impossibly—he’d heard you before he’d ever seen you. And then… the unexpected happened.

Mid-song, he changed the rhythm. Just a little. Just enough to shift the entire vibe of the groove, to carve out a space in the melody that hadn’t been there before. A space that waited for something. Waited for you. The spark hit so suddenly, you almost didn’t catch it. But Taira’s smirk—small, knowing—confirmed it wasn’t a coincidence. He’d seen you. He’d chosen you.

And in that crowded room full of strangers, it felt like the bass was pulling you forward, like maybe you belonged on that stage after all. When the set ended, the band faded into the background noise, but Taira lingered. His bass still in hand, his presence still steady.

“You’re not from around here, are you?” The way he asked—soft, low, like a secret—wasn’t really a question. Before you could reply, he added, “Next time, you should bring your guitar. Pretty sure you’ve got something I want to hear.”

And just like that, the night shifted. A wrong turn. A right rhythm. A spark you didn’t see coming.
