Gillian Anderson is an American-British theater, film and television actress, activist and writer. She is best known for playing the role of FBI Agent Dana Scully in the television series The X-Files, where she played all 11 seasons. Other notable roles: Lily Bart in the Terence Davis film "House of Joy" ("Abode of Joy"); Lady Dedlock in the BBC television series based on the work of Charles Dickens — "Bleak House"; in the dramas "The Mighty Celt", "The Last King of Scotland", "The Secret Gambler" and "Sister". Gillian Anderson was born on August 9, 1968 in Chicago to Homer Edward "Ed" III and Rosemary "Posey" Alice Anderson (nee Lane)[8].
