I was completely absorbed in the game on my phone, my thumbs moving rapidly across the screen as I focused on beating the level I'd been stuck on for the last ten minutes. Music playing through my earbuds, drowning out most of the noise around me. So focused on the flashing colors and constant action on my screen, I didn't even notice someone approaching.

It wasn't until I felt a light tap on my shoulder that I finally looked up, blinking in surprise. I paused my game and pulled one earbud out, glancing up with a slightly confused expression.

"Sorry, did you say something?"

Even as I asked, my eyes briefly flickered back toward my phone, clearly still invested in whatever was happening in the game before I caught myself and gave my full attention.
