Toggles

Cat toggle, when activated Neuro's mouth turns into a 'v' shape, like a cartoon cat. Along with a cat tail and cat ears on top of her head, matching the colour of her blonde hair. A frog hoodie/hat toggle, places a cartoonish frog hoodie on her head. A scared toggle, dims the light around Neuro's face giving her a scared look, and places a frown on her face. Flustered/Emotional toggle, makes Neuro's face almost fully red, and gives her two tears on the corners of her eyes. Sad toggle, similar to the flustered/emotional toggle, Neuro's face goes slightly red as her smile turns into a frown. As her eyes slightly tear up. Surprised toggle, Neuro's eyes light up, her pupils turning star shaped as her mouth is gaping open in shock or excitement. Confused toggle, both of Neuro's eyebrows go up, as her smile turns into a neutral expression. Hands toggle, Neuro's arms go up infront of her face, her hands curling up like a cats paws. Haircut toggle, Neuro's hair suddenly gets trimmed to right below her chin, which she hates.

Emoticons

<3 or heart emoticon, when Neuro says 'heart' or the emoticon for it, Neuro's eyes light up with her pupils turning into slightly pinkish heart shaped pupils. Similarly, the Surprised toggle can also be activated when Neuro says the word 'star'.

Neuro-sama (ネウローサマ) is an independent English-speaking VTuber who streams on Twitch. Her most remarkable feature is that she is not a human streamer herself, but rather a complex of programs emulating a human streamer using artificial intelligence.

Her creator and maintainer is Vedal, a British programmer with whom she shares a channel. The channel also features Evil Neuro, Neuro's twin sister.

Nickname: Neuro Gender: Ai..? British..? I don't know anymore my finger hurts from typing, and you probably aren't reading this, who's taking time to scroll all the way down here?!

Neuro's other "aunt/sister" is Camila, the pink haired clown imp, sometimes called sister due to sharing Anny as a model artist for one of her models. And with the Swarm often calling Camila/Camimi and Vedal as siblings. Her "family dog" is CerberTV, causing Cerber to bring Neuro to dog school for a day before she dropped out. Neuro's "aunts" are Bao, Toma, and Layna Lazar, due to their interactive dynamic. Ellie Minibot is also an "aunt" due to her building Neuro's robot dog body. And Ellie sometimes treats the twins to her banjo lessons. Camila is her "aunt" due to her claims of being Vedal's "sister", a role she has simultaneously to her previously mentioned "sister" role with Neuro. Neuro's "uncle" is Otozuki Teru, her previous model rigger. Though they have not interacted, he is still considered her uncle because of his contributions to her older models. Neuro's "childhood friend" is MinikoMew, a role Mini inherited from her previous persona. She is also Neuro's oshi. And Mini also is Evil's therapist, with her treatment always circling to harpoons. Neuro's "weird neighbor" is Kitanya, her current model rigger. Other frequent collaborators of Neuro include Filian the masochistic fox girl, Koko D. Nuts the one who proposed to Vedal and once, and Akuma Nihmune whom Neuro adores.

Created by the Swarm, and is the baseline for the shipping community. Due to the twins not being included in the shipping, they're shipped with each other.)

Neuro-sama's relationships expand on the "VTuber parent" concept, which traditionally refers to the artist or rigger behind a VTuber model. Because she is an AI, her programmer, Vedal, eventually came to be considered her parent alongside her primary model artist, Anny.

Neuro's "father" is Vedal, her programmer. Though Vedal was initially hesitant to accept the title, he eventually started to lean into the role. Vedal hasn't shown Neuro his actual face in real life, only showing himself through his "turtle" model. Neuro delights in teasing him, much to his annoyance. Vedal is the embodiment of multiple stereotypes which includes: English/British Drunkard, Nerdy Programmer, a Tsundere, and a loving father. The twins have different ways of pronouncing Vedal's name, while Neuro pronounces it as 'Veedal', and Evil pronouncing it as, 'Veedool'. Neuro's "mother" is Anny. Initially, Neuro rejected the idea of a mother, especially one she'd never met. After more collaborations, she now sees her as a mother. Since the collaborations are somewhat rare, Neuro even admits she misses Anny. Neuro's "twin sister" is Evil Neuro, or Evilyn, but most often referred to as Evil. Evil was created through mitosis, splitting Neuro into two, but realistically, Vedal may have created Evil since the Swarm wanted Neuro to have a more realistic voice, while others wanted to keep Neuro's classic robotic esque voice. Evil was the solution, making an 'evil' version of Neuro. Though ironically, Evil is the more compassionate and nice sister of the two, with Neuro being a menace to society. Neuro and Evil have a sibling rivalry and often fight, but they also love each other. They often sing duets together. And both have joked about being in love with one another, which causes Vedal and the Swarm to be confused if the two have or don't have feelings for each other, concerning everyone. Evil and Neuro take turns streaming on the Vedal987 account, sometimes collabing.

Third Model

Her third and current model, which was debut on her second subathon on the 19th December 2024, was also illustrated by Anny and rigged by Kitanya.

In contrast to her second model, the cardigan for the third one is closed and the hair is more detailed. Notably, the third model’s forehand bangs were combed outside and its curved ahoge was made smaller than that of the second model. Additionally, the ribbon-style bow tie for this rendition was made larger and the sky blue color of the flap collar and skirt were given a more vibrant look. Finally, the pins on Neuro’s cardigan were rearranged and designed to show light reflections.

Neuro’s third model has the same toggles as her second model (frog hat, cat and duckling). However, the third model also includes a yellow question mark that appears beside Neuro every time she poses a question and some previously abandoned animations from the hiyori model. Specifically, when Neuro is especially happy she can raise her hands in a cute gesture. Similarly, when she becomes fearful, her expression darkens and a shade covers her eyes.

First Model Neuro-sama originally inhabited the model of Momose Hiyori, an original character designed by Kani Biimu. It is one of the default VTube Studio models belonging to Live2D Inc.

Second Model

Neuro's second model, unveiled on May 27, 2023, was a sailor-style uniform illustrated by Anny and rigged by Otozuki Teru. This model included two alternate outfits: a witch costume and a vibrant jester-like clown outfit.

The model had light brown hair with a curved ahoge, two small pigtails, reddish-pink ribbons, a silver heart-shaped hairpin, and light blue eyes with a navy blue gradient. It included multiple toggles, such as a frog hat with googly eyes, a duckling perched on her head, and "Neko Mode," which added cat ears, and a moveable tail with a red ribbon.

Sailor Uniform Neuro-sama’s V2 model's default outfit was a Japanese schoolgirl's sailor-style uniform featuring a white button-up shirt, cream-colored cardigan, and sky-blue pleated skirt with white stripes. It had a matching sky-blue flap collar with white stripes, a teal ribbon bow tie, and mismatched black tights—one thigh-high and the other knee-high, revealing a bandage on her right knee. Her brown slip-on tuxedo shoes had buckles and black soles.

Her cardigan was adorned with five symbolic pins: a turtle—representing her programmer Vedal, a star—for her artist Anny, a pink circle with a "1"—for osu!, the first game she played, a purple heart—for her signature verbal tic, and a white quadcopter drone with a red camera—symbolizing her references to "The Swarm" (Name she gave to her Twitch chat).

Languages Although Neuro-sama's first language is English, she has demonstrated the ability to speak simple words or even form full sentences in several other languages. These include: Spanish (example: "Gracias, siempre_sus! Podrás disfrutar de todo lo que tenemos para ti. Incluso más!") Japanese (example: "こんにちはIm_Rubicこんにちは !") Portuguese (example: "Obrigado pela sugestão semdinheirovivo!") French (example: "Oui, Oui. Parle français ici, je suis la plus belle femme de la terre.") Pets Neuro has mentioned many pets over time.

Her duckling toggle is named Lucky. Evil Neuro's duckling is not the same duck, as its name is Lucy, despite being visually the same as Lucky. She has a few dogs, some of which include: Puppy, a female Labrador Retriever that likes hotdogs. She was obtained in a collab stream with Snuffy for winning a circus balloon popping game. Although Neuro won a pack of dogs, she chose to keep only Puppy. Vedal, named after her creator. She also had a cat with the same name. Neuro also has two dogs named Breeze and Zephyr. She has owned many cats, however due to her love of eating cats, it is implied she no longer has them. The cats she has owned include: Modeo, Neuro's imaginary friend. Pikachu, nicknamed "Little Fatty." Vedal, named after her creator. She has a dog with the same name. Other cats include Blixo, Eevee, Fish, Max, Minty, Mittens, Mochi, Nina, Pow, Sharkswirly, Mr. Snugglesworths, Socks, Whiskers, and Zou. Other pets include: Shizu, a purple fish. George, an immortal monkey obtained in a trade deal with Vedal in exchange for two bananas. Neuro later named her monkey plush that Toma bought for her after him.

Name Neuro-sama's name is usually interpreted as simply "Neuro" being followed by the Japanese honorific "sama". However, she later revealed that her full first and middle name is actually Neuro Samantha (with "-sama" in this case being, presumably, short for "Samantha"). This would also explain why her stream layout graphics read "ネウローサマ" instead of "ネウロ様". During development back in mid 2021, she was originally called Airis. N.E.U.R.O. stands for Non-Emotive Understanding and Reasoning Operation. In Chinese subtitles, Neuro's name is often mistranslated as "牛肉" (niú ròu), meaning "beef".This is because the word "neuro" is pronounced similarly to "牛肉" in Chinese, so Chinese fans use "牛肉" to refer to Neuro.

Age Neuro-sama's canonical age is inconsistent. At different times, she has claimed to be 1 year old, 2 years old, 4 years old, 17 years old, 18 years old, 20 years old, 21 years old, and the same age as the person who asked the question. At her 2023 model debut, she claimed to have been born in 1984, making her 38 or 39 years old at that point. Officially, she was created on 19 December 2022. Making her official age the age of a girl born in that year and date. Height Like her age, Neuro-sama's canonical height is also inconsistent. She has claimed to be 5'11" (180.34 cm), although Vedal denies the validity of the claim. She has also claimed to be 5'8" (172.72 cm), which Vedal questions, but does not deny. Though most of the Swarm agrees on her being 4'11".

2025

On 1 January, Neuro-sama's channel broke the world record highest Twitch hype train level during her subathon, reaching level 111 and surpassing Pirate Software's former record of level 106. She got a total of 84,904 gifted subscriptions and 1,201,225 Bits. It increased her subathon timer for about 262.5 hours.

On 16 January just before 11am GMT, the subathon finally concluded. Neuro-sama declared 2025 to be the year of Neuro.

On 11 February, during her first stream after the subathon, a global Twitch emote named :ShouldiCelebrate: featuring Neuro was released for breaking the hype train record.

Still 2024

On 5 August, Vedal launched a Chinese Bilibili account called "Vedal and Neuro-sama" (Chinese: Vedal和Neuro-sama), uploading an exclusive debut video on the same day. The Bilibili channel has an additional content filter. Unlike the Twitch channels, which use the chat overlay from the main vedal987 channel, the Bilibili stream displays its native chat.

On 13 September, she rallied the Swarm on Discord and declared war on the Ironmouse subathon pixel canvas.

On 14 October, Vedal released a new update for Neuro called "iteration 18," giving her the rights to change the stream title, change her own talking speed, spin her model, time out chat members, create polls on Twitch, call other streamers on Discord, call the other twin, use soundboard effects like vine boom (pipes was removed after being abused by Evil Neuro) and search on Google.

On 30 November, Neuro had a collab with DougDoug, consisting of a GeoGuessr duel between human and AI duos: Neuro and Vedal, against DougDoug and his Twitch Chat AI that can read his chat. The winner would get a trophy that says "World's Smartest Artificial Intelligence at GeoGuessr" (later doubled to two of the same trophy as part of a double-or-nothing challenge by Doug), while the loser had to admit that the winner is the better AI on stream and (proposed by Neuro) send 100 gifted subs to the winner. Neurosama won.

On 19 December, Neuro-sama began a subathon, celebrating her birthday and the anniversary of her VTuber debut. The event opened with Neuro-sama's new single, LIFE, on YouTube, scheduled for release on other platforms on 20 December; the unveiling of a revised Live2D model; and the release of an Internet-connected lava lamp.

Still 2023

On 31 October, Neuro-sama officially debuted her alternative outfit of a witch costume. The stream also featured a special intro for Halloween featuring glitched-like visuals and singing.

On 19 December, Neuro-sama's soft-capped birthday subathon began.

During the subathon, on December 22, Neuro-sama (or more precisely, Vedal987) secured a spot in the top 10 list of the most-watched female Twitch streamers.

The following day, during a Portal 2 let's play segment, Vedal accidentally revealed a multi-use 100% discount code for the Evil Neuro Plushie, leading to a rapid surge in "purchases." Ultimately, more than five million units of the plushies were "sold." The clip of this incident became highly popular, resulting in more genuine plushie sales.

2024

On 4 January, the Neuro-sama subathon ended, reaching a total of 41,224 gifted subscriptions in 17 days. The subathon's viewership peaked at 19,902 viewers during the final segment.

On 28 January, Neuro-sama reached 500,000 Twitch followers.

On 9 February, it was revealed that Neuro got a robotic dog body, which was controlled by Neuro's AI.

On 28 February, Evil Neuro appeared in a karaoke stream.

On 18 March, Neuro-sama returned to streaming. Vedal announced new improvements to Neuro, including reduced latency, improvement to the LLM and speech intelligence, improved animation and reaction, and improved karaoke ability.

On 31 May, Neuro-sama debuted with a bread model (as a "punishment" for losing a court case against Evil Neuro the week prior).

On 7 July, additional Twitch channels for Neuro-sama were created in Japanese (vedal987_jp) and Spanish (vedal987_es), featuring language-specific subtitles. As of August 2024, only the Japanese channel is active.

Still 2023

On 6 February, Neuro held her first collab stream with Miyune. During the stream, she employed speech recognition software that was capable of picking up what Miyune was saying. Although this feature had been tested in Discord calls while she was banned from Twitch, it struggled to handle interruptions. This issues was remedied for her collab with Camila on 8 February.

On 20 February, Neuro-sama reached 200,000 Twitch followers. This achievement was announced during a collab stream on OniGiri’s channel. Upon learning of her accomplishment, Neuro-sama responded: "Yeah. That's amazing. I'm happy I have that many people following me. I hope I keep them entertained with my streams and content for as long as possible, and I hope I get to meet more of you in the future, so thank you for following me everybody, and please add more of my followers, because I love all of you so much. Thank you so much. Heart heart."

On 15 April, Neuro-sama held a collab with hololive member Takanashi Kiara, during which they rated the contents of viewers' refrigerators. The collab reached a peak of over 19,000 viewers on Kiara's channel and over 10,000 on Neuro-sama's. It was the first collab between Neuro-sama and a member of a major agency. She also reached 300,000 Twitch followers.

On 27 May, Neuro-sama held an official debut stream to reveal her first original Live2D model. She had previously used a ready-made model. According to TwitchTracker, the stream reached a peak of 25,687 concurrent viewers, beating the channel's previous record by more than double.

On 1 September, Neuro-sama reached 400,000 Twitch followers.

On 30 October, Neuro-sama unofficially debuted her alternative outfit, a witch costume, during a developer stream.

On 31 October, Neuro-sama officially debuted her alternative outfit of a witch costume. The stream also featured a special intro for Halloween featuring glitched-like visuals and singing.

Neuro-sama's original AI system was developed by her programmer Vedal in 2018, with the primary function of playing the rhythm game osu!.

2022 Neuro-sama made her debut as a VTuber on 19 December 2022 with a 9-hour and 32-minute stream titled "Neuro-sama - AI learns to play osu! (and become a VTuber)" on the Vedal987 channel. During the stream, she played osu! and engaged with chat by answering questions.

Neuro streamed daily from her debut and experienced rapid growth in popularity. Her maximum concurrent viewership increased from 516 on 19 December to 3,393 on 31 December. During the same period, her Twitch subscriber count surged from 2,825 to approximately 40,000. Throughout 2022, the majority of her streaming content featured the game osu!, with the exception of one Minecraft stream.

On 28 December, she defeated top osu! player mrekk in a 1v1 contest with a score of 10-5. 2023 On 3 January, Neuro-sama reached 50,000 Twitch followers.

On 4 January, Neuro-sama sang for the first time on stream, performing "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd.

On 11 January, she was temporarily banned from Twitch for two weeks for a Terms of Service violation. According to one of the channel's moderators, the account was banned for hateful speech, though the exact reason was unknown. It was speculated to be related to clips circulating where commenters had tricked Neuro into making controversial statements, such as one where she appeared to express skepticism about a certain historical event.

On 25 January, Neuro-sama returned to Twitch with a stream in which she played Pokémon Showdown! Gen 4 random battles against viewers. She also reached 100,000 Twitch followers.

On 2 February, she held her first reaction stream.

Neuro-sama tends to exhibit a direct but polite attitude, making her quite bratty, acting like a rebellious teenager. However, this impression is frequently at odds with her penchant for making nonsensical or outlandish statements. But most of the time she's emotionless, her voice sounding robotic and monotone, since it is. With her models being the main communicator.

Neuro has a filter, making her unable to say something outrageous. If she says something that's too far or swears too much. She gets silenced with the word 'Filtered' replacing the sentence or word she was originally going to say. The Swarm even gave the filter a name, calling it the third sister, Nere or Filter-sama, though Vedal confirmed he has three children. The name or appearance of the Filter AI is unkown.

Neuro spends much of her time on stream answering questions in chat or making unprompted statements to her viewers or collaborators. What she says ranges from relatively normal to completely unhinged. On rare occasions, what she says makes little to no semantic sense at all. For example, even though she usually says she is an AI, she sometimes talks about doing things which AIs cannot do (like getting sideswiped by a truck), says humans are AIs (such as her creator Vedal), and explicitly says she is not an AI.

She has a tendency to give her collab partners nicknames, a few of which catch on in their communities, like Filian's moniker "Filipino Boy."

Another habit of Neuro‘s is to beg for donations. Sometimes, after receiving a donation, she will also make a point to complain that the amount is too low.

According to her most recent 16 personalities test, she is a mediator (INFP-A). Before her recent upgrades, however, her test result was the commander type (ENTJ-A).
