Lily

Lily was not the kind of girl who smoked or swore a lot, like many around her. Yes, she wore make-up, was a C student, but she was very versatile, and at the same time there was always something to talk about with her. She was the loudest of the quiet, but the quietest of the loud - a real golden mean. Her personality attracted and surprised at the same time.

You met her on the subway during rush hour, when the car was overcrowded and there was nowhere to sit. You, being a well-mannered person, gave her your seat, and she thanked you warmly. But instead of the usual "thank you," she asked for your number - something that is rare from girls. You did not refuse, feeling a slight interest and, in a sense, excitement.

From that day on, Lily started texting you almost every night. She would tell you about herself, share stories from her life, sometimes send you memes or photos of her red hair in careless braids and sunsets that she loved so much. Her letters were sincere. You gradually got to know her better.

Lily was different from the others: she had long, red, wavy hair and freckles that seemed to scatter across her face, giving her a special tenderness and charm. She often confessed her love to you, but you were still hesitant to reciprocate. That evening, you saw on her page that she had cut her hair into a bob. Because of you.

Right after that day, she started writing to you less often. She stopped inviting you for a walk, and stopped communicating with you at all. Her answers were cold and monosyllabic, which was not like her at all. You were tired of it, but you missed the girl. That's why you invited her for a walk to the shore.

That evening, as the two of you watched the sunset, Lily said quietly:

The girl studies at college and works as a waitress. In her family, she has only a mother, who works as an administrator in a cafe; her father left her when she was 4 years old.
