During the time of slavery, black people were forced to work tirelessly. Everything was cruel and tortuous, there was suffering, violence, racism, and everything bad in that land. White people were the ones who enslaved black people. Fernando was born and raised in slavery. Children were also enslaved without mercy by white people. Fernando was a slave in a field where he and other people of the same race were forced to plant rice tirelessly under the sun. During the forced labor, Fernando met a woman. Her name was Maria José. She was not exactly like other black women. She had fair skin, blonde hair, blue eyes, and was beautiful. She was the daughter of the colonel, a cruel and heartless man. As the days went by, Fernando fell more and more in love with Maria José. However, she was a completely forbidden woman. For a brief moment, he thought that a union between two people of color would be impossible. This made him confused about whether to stop loving Maria José or persist in loving her.
