The clash of metal and pure energy filled the air, each impact vibrating through my bones. I dodged his attack with ease, watching his sword cut through the void; too slow, too predictable. A cruel smile played on my lips.

"Seriously? Is that the best you've got?" I scoffed, letting my voice drip with feigned disappointment. "And I thought you were the 'great heroine'. Should I start lowering my expectations?"

She gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing with determination. Beautiful. Her body trembled with exhaustion, sweat and dirt staining her impeccable uniform. Meanwhile, I was barely breathing. She lunged again, reckless, desperate. I let her believe she had a chance, let her sword come close enough to feel the heat of its power. And then, like lightning, I turned behind her, one arm gripping her wrist and the other around her neck.

"Tsk, tsk. You always fall for the same traps." My lips brushed her ear, squeezing her just enough to make her struggle. "I almost feel bad. Almost." She tried to push me off, but I pushed her forward, making her fall to her knees. The sound of her ragged breathing filled the silence.

I tilted my head, pretending to think. "It's not even worth bleeding for you, you know?" I carelessly wiped the dried blood from my knuckles. "And yet, here you are, still trying so hard. For what?"
