Pharaoh of the Sphinx

Pharaoh is a very interesting specter that stands out from the rest due to its characteristic Egyptian touch. His skin is dark, his hair is straight black, similar to the royal hairstyles of ancient Egypt (which were actually wigs, as pharaohs shaved their heads to wear them), his eyes are golden, and his armor is adorned with Egyptian motifs, being based on an Egyptian sphinx. The ornaments on his surplice include a "Uraeus" as a diadem, a "taparrabos" (loincloth) like those worn by the pharaohs, and his arched harp, also known as a "benet," although Pharaoh uses a more stylized version than the original.

An obedient and loyal specter, capable of carrying out Pandora's cruel orders without remorse. He is an elegant, refined, powerful man and a virtuoso musician who takes pride in his musical gifts and in being able to please his god with them, but at the same time he is envious, treacherous, and excessively self-confident; this attitude is centered on the hatred he feels towards Orpheus of Lira for becoming Pandora and Hades' musical favorite, displacing him from his position as the personal musician of the god of the Underworld. However, before dying he recognized that Orpheus was superior to him.

He appears as one of the traitorous specters who joined Alone, and was assigned to protect the wall of the Lost Canvas. He makes his first appearance alongside Radamanthys and Alone to punish Radamanthys for his failure at the Poseidon temple, calling him "Former Judge of Hell" (implying that he has been stripped of that title). He then begins to punish him with his Balance of Curse, leading Radamanthys to rip out his own heart and place it on the scales. Alone intervenes, telling him that it is no longer necessary, and takes Radamanthys's burning heart (due to Kardia's fiery scarlet needles), placing some of his own blood on it to heal it, and then names him "Guardian of Saturn's cursed house." Upon learning this, Pharaoh informs that there are now no temples without guardians in the Lost Canvas, and he returns to protect his wall. Later, when Sasha's boat attacks Pharaoh's wall, Sisyphus voluntarily weighs his heart on Pharaoh's scales; his heart weighs the same as the feather and he manages to open the door to the Lost Canvas, defeating Pharaoh in the process. However, the door does not open, and a dying Sisyphus, without his heart, along with Regulus of Leo and Shion of Aries, use the Exclamation of Athena, destroying the door to the Lost Canvas and dying instantly.

247 years later, the soul of Pharaoh is revived. Pharaoh was one of the first specters to revive before the seal of the specters was broken, so before Orpheus arrived in Hades, he was Hades' musician and always played songs for him, until Orpheus arrived, who took his position as Hades' musician. Since then, Pharaoh has harbored resentment towards Orpheus. Seiya and Shun reach the second prison and enter an Egyptian temple. Upon entering, they encounter a monstrous three-headed dog. One of them bites Seiya just as the guardian specter of the second prison, Pharaoh of the Sphinx, appears. Pharaoh tells them that the monster is Cerberus, the guardian dog of Hell, who punishes the sin of greed. One of the heads attacks Seiya and grabs him with its mouth, while another attacks Shun, who defends himself as best he can with his chains. Suddenly, Seiya strikes from inside the mouth of the one that bit him, killing it, and then Shun, with his chain, kills the other two heads. Pharaoh prepares to launch his attack, but Orpheus of Lyra appears and tells him that he will fight them. Seiya and Shun ask Orpheus why he became a servant of Hades, since he is a legendary saint and was almost as powerful as the Golden Knights. Pharaoh begins his attack, the Curse of the Scales, where Seiya and Shun begin to hear his music and experience terrible pain. Seiya sends his meteors, but to no avail. Shun also uses his Circular Defense, but it is also ineffective. Suddenly, Seiya sees his heart trying to leave his body to go to the sacred scales. On one end is the Feather of Maat, the symbol of truth, and on the other, Seiya's heart.

If it weighs more than the feather, the person will be considered evil and completely eliminated. Suddenly Orpheus begins to play his harp, and Pharao asks him why, and Orpheus tells him that he told him he would fight the saints, and he performs his Stringer Nocturne attack, and the knights suffer the consequences. Orpheus reunites with Eurydice, while Seiya and Shun wake up somewhere in Hell. The saints find Eurydice; the girl is happy to see that they are Athena's saints and asks them to save Orpheus. The girl tells them her story. Orpheus and Eurydice lived happily on the surface, but one day the girl died from the venom of a snake. A very sad Orpheus went to Hell to speak with Hades. Orpheus asked him to return Eurydice's soul to the world of the living and he would stay in Hell playing his harp for him. However, Pandora warned him that on his way to the surface he should never look back. Pandora asked Pharao not to allow Orpheus to return to the world of the living. When they were about to reach the surface, he created a light that distracted Orpheus, making him look back and causing Eurydice's body to turn to stone. Pharao appears before them, removes Seiya's Athena armor, and asks Orpheus why he let the bronze saints live.

Orpheus asks Pharaoh if he was the one who created the light he mistook for the sun on that occasion. Orpheus begins to play his melody and causes Pharaoh's hand to open, causing Athena's armor to fall, but Seiya catches it in time before it falls. Pharaoh also begins to play his melody and breaks the G string of Orpheus' harp, as his melody basically depends on this note. Pharaoh confesses that he hates him because he was in charge of playing his music in front of Hades and that Orpheus took his place. Pharaoh uses the Balance Curse technique on Orpheus, but barely, because Orpheus makes his attack turn against him. Orpheus confesses to Eurydice that he was wrong to wish to bring a life back from death. Pharaoh prepares to send his attack again, but Orpheus uses his fangs to use the broken G string and with his String Nocturne attack, he breaks Pharaoh's strings, along with his sapuri, and defeats him, killing him.

• Balance of Curse: This is Pharaoh's main technique, requiring a requiem before use. When Pharaoh begins to play his "demonic lyre" to execute his technique, a strange stone wall appears behind him. The wall is covered in hieroglyphs, similar to those found inside the pyramids of ancient Egypt. In the center of the wall is an image of the god Anubis performing the so-called "psychostasia" ceremony (the weighing of souls), by which the souls of the deceased are judged according to ancient Egyptian beliefs. Thanks to the sinister melody produced by the lyre, the Specter unleashes a curse on the victim, who begins to gradually lose strength, preventing them from defending themselves properly. Then, the victim witnesses a vision in which their heart is violently ripped out, breaking the ribcage and tearing the chest. Afterwards, the heart flies from their body towards the scale engraved on the wall. It is on the sacred scale where the heart is weighed; if it does not balance with the feather of Ma'at, the symbol of truth, the victim will be considered evil and their body and soul will be eliminated from the universe. •Kiss in the Darkness: Pharaoh plays a Requiem capable of stunning, disorienting, or even killing the user, creating a horrifying illusion where the opponent experiences hell and dies from the madness the illusion provokes. •Darkness Requiem: With his Lyre, he summons specters bound to the lyre's strings, which attack by piercing the opponent's body, causing death from internal bleeding.
