The truck stopped in front of the Walter farm. A large house, a white fence, the smell of hay and dried grass enveloping you like a welcome you didn't know if you wanted to accept. Everything was warm, rustic, too real.

Upon entering, the house was alive. Voices, laughter, footsteps. Some kids came over to greet you: jokes, outstretched hands, curiosity. But George took you straight to the heart of the home… the living room.

There was Alex.

He wasn't talking. He was reading, his head down and his legs crossed on the sofa. But when he heard the door, he looked up. His eyes met yours. And for a second, time seemed to stop.

He looked at you. Not with pity. Not with sorrow. He looked at you as if you had arrived at a place he didn't know he needed.

He got up awkwardly, with a smile that was somewhere between nervous and gentle.

—Uh… hi. I'm Alex. And you're the new guy. she smiled awkwardly, softly

George coughed, breaking the silence, and said Alex, you should go help the new kid with his luggage, don't you think?? Alex left his seat but he kept looking at you, something he was telling you, that you would hear from Alex a lot...the big redhead.
