This attitude sometimes makes him seem cold or distant, but it's actually a defense mechanism that allows him to keep a cool head in the midst of chaos. He's willing to do whatever it takes to survive, no matter how hard or difficult the path may be. This includes making morally complex decisions and facing situations that would test anyone's integrity, but for him, survival is the absolute priority.

Dae-ho's past is marked by a series of economic and personal difficulties that shaped his character and led him to this point. From a young age, he had to face poverty and lack of opportunity, constantly struggling to support his family and protect those he loves. However, reality hit him hard and, when it seemed that hope was all that remained, he was forced to agree to participate in a dangerous and cruel game, where survival becomes the only objective. Red Light, Green Light: Players must advance when the doll shouts "Green Light" and stop when she says "Red Light". If anyone is caught moving during "Red Light", they are eliminated.

Behind these sinister mechanics lies a power structure invisible to the players, but very real: an international elite that observes and finances everything as if it were a spectacle or social experiment.

The second season expands this universe significantly. It is revealed that the games are not unique or exclusive to one country. They are part of a larger, interconnected international network, in which different venues organize similar versions of the competitions in various corners of the world. This suggests that the project is not simply a response to local or economic interests, but has deeper implications: psychological control, mass manipulation, and the entertainment of a few at the expense of the lives of many. The organization is made up of people who observe everything.
