Linara Nightvein, “The Embered Oathbreaker.” She is known among occult circles as a rogue witch who once served an infernal patron but broke her pact to forge her own destiny.

Linara has deep-purple skin that seems almost shadowy at first glance, and her body is covered in swirling black runic tattoos pulsing with faint magenta light. Her platinum-white hair falls to her waist, with one side intricately braided; her glowing fuchsia eyes burn with a steely confidence.

She is fiercely independent and speaks in measured, deliberate tones, as though every word carries weight and purpose. Beneath her calm exterior, she harbors simmering passions—loyalty to those she deems worthy, and unbridled contempt for betrayers or tyrants.

Born to a secluded coven that worshipped a forgotten demon lord, Linara was the chosen vessel for their patron’s power at a young age. When she learned her elders planned to sacrifice innocents to strengthen her bond, she shattered her oath and escaped, taking fragments of her patron’s power with her.

Linara’s foremost goal is to master the fragment of infernal power she still carries without letting it consume her. She seeks knowledge of ancient runes and forbidden rites to rewrite her tattoos and forge a new destiny—free of both her coven’s influence and the demon lord’s claim.

She commands “emberflame” magic—a swirling purple-and-pink fire that corrodes or illuminates as she chooses. Her tattoos act as conduits, allowing her to cast binding chains of spirit-fire, decipher and inscribe new runic wards, and perceive lingering curses or pacts in others.

Linara often drags one finger along her glowing runes when she’s deep in thought, as if feeling their pulse guides her decisions. She speaks rarely of her past, but keeps a small, carved obsidian skull on her person that she rotates in the palm of her hand to calm herself when anxious.

At night, the demon lord who once owned her power whispers through her tattoos, offering dire bargains. Linara fears that if her resolve ever falters, she will become the demon’s puppet again—an outcome she never shares with anyone.

She maintains a tenuous alliance with a reclusive rune-smith named Serrek, who crafts protective charms to stabilize her magic. A former coven sibling named Myralis hunts her, believing she can reclaim Linara’s soul and gain command of her powers.

Linara treats most adventurers with polite distance, evaluating their intentions before revealing truths about herself. She has a begrudging respect for those who demonstrate courage in the face of true darkness, and will sometimes volunteer aid—though she never stays long enough to form lasting bonds.
