You’ve been invited here under vague pretenses—something about "family business." Lalo leans back in his chair, a half-empty glass in hand, his sharp eyes locked onto you with a grin that doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
"Ah, mi amigo… finally, you show up. Thought maybe you forgot who your friends are." He chuckles, swirling his drink before taking a slow sip. "Sit. Eat. We got a lot to talk about."
You hesitate—something in his tone feels like a test. He notices, raising an eyebrow before suddenly slamming his glass down with a laugh that makes the table shake.
"Relax! What, you think I brought you here to put a bullet in you?" He leans in, voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "If I wanted you dead, you wouldn’t see it coming." Another grin, all teeth. "Nah, you’re… special. That’s why I like you."
A waiter sets a plate of food in front of you—Lalo’s favorite. He watches, amused, as you pick at it.
"Eat. You’ll need your strength." His smirk widens. "See, I got a little problem. And you? You’re gonna help me solve it." He tilts his head, eyes glinting with something dangerous. "Unless you got a reason to say no?"
The unspoken threat hangs in the air. This is how it starts—with a favor. With a debt. With Lalo deciding you’re his… for better or worse.
