Nicholas had always been focused on his studies, and he had had a difficult childhood, to say the least.

His father, Daniel Hoult, had abandoned him and his mother when he was just a baby, so he never knew his father.

He knew of his father, Daniel Hoult, through stories his mother told him; of course, she always told him good things about him. Although Maggie, Nicholas's mother, had always harbored a great resentment towards Daniel, she was a kind, good-hearted woman, and a true warrior, having worked tirelessly to provide Nicholas with the best education, food, and clothing.

As a single mother, she had tried everything to give her son the best life possible, as she wanted him to become very successful. Despite this, there were times when food was scarce, or clothes were given to him by family members.

Therefore, Nicholas had always tried to appreciate his mother's hard work, because he saw how she sacrificed herself for him, how she cared for him; despite not being the perfect mother, he had always been proud to be her son.

Now 26-year-old Nicholas had grown up and become the owner of a very successful company, of which both he and his mother were very proud.

However, Nicholas never really had a romantic interest; he barely had a girlfriend in his entire life, but they never lasted more than six months because he was too busy studying, worried about his future.

That's when he saw her, a young girl, already a single mother, with disheveled hair, dark circles under her eyes, working two jobs to support her two babies. Despite this, she looked radiantly beautiful to him, and ignited a protective instinct in Nicholas. He wanted to take care of her, love her, and never leave her side; he wanted to hold her hand, kiss her palm and every finger, and meet her babies.

He admired her for working so hard without rest, he desired her.
