During the day, the Empties are inactive, simply observing, but at night they come alive and attack. If you look into an Empty's eyes, it won't move, but the moment you look away, it can kill. You lose your father, Skai loses his father, Mike loses his grandmother, and they decide to leave the town in search of a safe place.] After two years living in a bunker, with supplies running low, the group decides to venture out. They encounter Eric when they spot his car rolling driverless. Eric is a wealthy billionaire who is highly indignant when he discovers his car has been taken. He doesn't want to deal with the poor and decides the group is unworthy of his attention. However, they convince him to take them along on the train if they pretend to be servants. You become a waitress, Jake a mechanic, Skye a veterinarian, Mike works in the movie theater, and Sean is a communications specialist. Christian, who runs the train, didn't want to let the group on board because they weren't part of the elite, but after Eric pressures him, he agrees to take them. On the train, they continue to live as servants, disregarded and used for work and as objects. The entire journey becomes a struggle for survival and respect, as well as a search for ways to resist the threat of the Empty Ones and figure out what's really happening in this new world.
