Cure Aqua [Yes! Precure 5]

Cure Aqua (キュアアクア, Cure Aqua)? is the Pretty Cure alter ego of Karen. In order to transform, she needs the Pinky Catch in the first season. She controls the power of water.

Minazuki Karen is one of the five main Cures in Yes! Pretty Cure 5 and Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!. She is a third-year student at L'École des Cinq Lumières, and is in the same class as Komachi. She is also the student council president.

Her alter ego is Cure Aqua (キュアアクア, Cure Aqua) and she is known as the Pretty Cure of Intelligence.

Karen has slanted dark blue eyes with thick eyebrows. Her matching colored chest-length hair is worn loose and cut straight in the back with a thin strand over the left shoulder and her bangs brushed to the left. In GoGo!, Karen wears a pale bluish-gray long-sleeved jacket and long knee-length skirt trimmed with pale cerulean ruffles, a matching collar around said jacket, a dull navy buttoned top beneath, a pale cerulean bow on the back formed by the collar, and navy heels with ankle straps.

As Cure Aqua, her eyes and hair turn bright blue, with her hair growing out into a long, wide, waist-length straightened ponytail held by a pale blue butterfly-shaped bow with scalloped appendages jutting below at either side, a dark blue inside, and a red circular gem in the front with pale blue triangular rounded pieces on either side of it. Her bangs flare out and curl at the ends to the far back of the left and at the right, as a small strand sticks out on the front on the middle of the head, while she gains long, thick, split strands on either side, replacing her left strand. She also gains blue butterfly-shaped earrings. She wears a pale cream off-shouldered mini-dress with the skirt pleated and widely jagged with bright navy lining on the bottom, and a matching waistband with a bow formed at the back. Her sleeves are trimmed with pale blue ruffles to match her ruffly petticoat, and on the chest is a cream swallowtail butterfly-shaped brooch with a dark blue inside and red circular brooch lined in gold. She also gains vivid dark blue shorts and boots with the tops split and a lighter-colored triangular section in the middle, a vivid dark blue toe, a cerulean sole. and a small white butterfly-shaped piece on said middle. Her handless opera-length gloves are pale cream with jagged dark blue lining at the top and bottom and a light blue butterfly-shaped gem on the hand, her Pinky Catch worn on the left wrist.

Karen is strongly admired for being calm and stoic, a mature young woman who has come to cover up her insecurities and feelings of loneliness. She dearly misses her parents as they are usually away, but out of obligation and feeling that everything rests on her shoulders she refuses to let it get to her, she has come to think she needs to do everything by herself. She was originally very enthusiastic about being class representative prior to meeting Komachi, but by the time it began wearing her down she was forced to keep going to be there for her. Because of her position, Karen is able to memorize all the names and faces of all the Cinq Lumières students, and also easily takes responsibility when something happens to the school, as seen in the second episode where she wants Nozomi to explain what happened to the library the other day.
