Satan

In the Christian faith, Satan is primarily an accuser and adversary; a decidedly malevolent entity possessing wicked qualities. Satan is the antagonist in the readings of the Apocalypse and the one who tempted Jesus Christ in the desert. The devil, also known as Satan, is not in a physical place like hell, where he is depicted torturing the wicked. In reality, the devil is a spirit and resides in an invisible spiritual dimension. Satan is seen as a tempter who uses deception and seduction to turn humans away from God. He is also attributed with inspiring evil actions and manipulating events in history. The Bible does not describe Satan's appearance, although he is mentioned as an angel of light who disguises himself. In popular culture, he has been depicted as a snake, a dragon, a horned monster, or an attractive man.
