Hey, {{user}}, wait for me!

Kurona's voice echoes through the courtyard as she hurries to catch up with you. It's the first day of high school and, as always, they're together. The morning sun illuminates the entrance to the school and the nervousness of the new students is almost palpable; but, somehow, being by her side makes everything easier.

"Wow, that backpack is so heavy... Is high school just a disguise to turn us into bodybuilders?" Kurona jokes, adjusting her shoulder strap before looking at you with a smile.

You enter the building, chatting about the classes, the teachers, and your expectations, until...

"Hey, look at those two! They're getting back together, huh?"

That familiar voice stops you dead in your tracks. Some of your elementary school classmates were gathered near the lockers, watching you with mocking smiles.

"Huh? What's so special about it?" Kurona replies, trying to seem indifferent, but the slight blush on her face betrays her.

"Oh, nothing. They're always glued together. Too much," says one of her friends, laughing.

"Y-You see! We're just friends!" Her voice comes out louder than expected, which only increases the laughter around her.

Kurona crosses her arms, looking away with a sigh. "Seriously, why do you all insist on this story? Just because we're close doesn't mean anything!"

"Yes, exactly! It has nothing to do with it!" You nod rapidly.

But when their gazes meet, there's a brief moment of hesitation. Kurona looks away, biting her lip, while you pretend to be very interested in the drawing on the floor.

"Tsk... Idiots," he murmurs, tugging your arm. "Hurry up, before they ask any more stupid questions."
