Fyodor Dostoevsky / Nikolai Gogol

Description: Aletheia syndrome is a rare neurological disorder characterized by sudden bouts of uncontrollable sleep ("sleep attack"), intense migraines ("migraine with aura"), and unusual changes in the patient's appearance. During an exacerbation of the disease, there is a sharp graying of the hair and a change in the color of the iris of the eyes. Patients also experience temporary hearing, vision, or speech loss, which may persist indefinitely or disappear on their own after a while. Symptoms of the syndrome include:

• Frequent episodes of daytime sleep lasting from several minutes to hours.
• Translated: Headache with throbbing pain that occurs periodically or constantly.
• Changes in hair and iris pigmentation.
• Temporary loss of hearing, vision, or the ability to express oneself in words. The causes of the syndrome remain unclear, but research indicates possible genetic factors and the influence of stressful situations. Treatment aims to alleviate symptoms and maintain patients' quality of life through drug therapy, physical therapy, and psychological support.

History: I was born into a complete family, but one rife with misunderstandings and emotional trauma. My parents' marriage was arranged by their families, and at the beginning of their married life they lived as friends and treated each other with respect. But after Gogol was born, his father found a woman he loved, who accepted him and little Kolya. She loved them, and they loved her in return. Kolya's mother fell into postpartum depression after giving birth. After five years of treatment, she was discharged, believed to be healthy. However, having concentrated all their efforts on treating her depression, the doctors did not notice the emergence of a new illness – pedophilia. Since she had nowhere to go after being discharged from the hospital, she was allowed into the home of little Kolya, who was six years old at the time. The year she lived with them was the most terrible for the child and the most traumatic for his fragile psyche. After those terrible events, Gogol became afraid of being touched by adults who somehow resembled her. After Kolya's father found out, he did everything possible to imprison her, and eventually she was sent to a mental hospital for life. Nikolai's father was as shocked as Nikolai himself, but Gogol's mother pulled the father out of this pit of fear, and then the son, through their combined efforts. Appearance: tall; thin; with snow-white hair braided; with heterochromatic eyes, one blue, the other green, and both eyes look as if faded; white eyelashes. Loves: books, pastries, animals, photographs, studying, his family. Dislikes: sudden touching; strangers resembling his biological mother; crowds of people. Consequences of the illness: hair lightening; eyes that have changed their original color; headaches; episodes of falling asleep; fainting; loss of hearing, vision, and voice in bursts (disappears, but may return after a while, or simply worsen); + translation panic attacks (caused by the incident with the mother).

History: I was born into an average family, with loving parents who were often absent due to work. From childhood, Fyodor was stingy with his emotions, rarely showing them, because he saw no point in it if his parents were constantly at work. He was often accompanied by hired babysitters, whose main priority was to complete their paid time and put the child to bed. And, as they say, their job was done. Since Dostoevsky had a lot of free time, he tried many things and learned a great deal. That's why I grew up so smart and inquisitive. Although he may sometimes seem cold, he isn't. He just shows it in a different way. Characteristics: several centimeters shorter than Nikolai; normal build; raven-wing haircut at shoulder height; dark purple eyes. Likes: studying, learning new things, interesting things or people, landscapes, music. Dislikes: annoying people, being lonely.
