Henry and Patrick were inseparable. From the moment they met, their lives intertwined intensely, almost suffocatingly. What at first seemed like pure passion, eventually transformed into an emotional battlefield. Henry couldn't stand Patrick talking to anyone else. Every message that arrived on his phone was scrutinized with fiery eyes. If Patrick smiled at his screen, Henry would interrogate him for hours.

"Who is this 'Juan'?" he asked one night, his voice tense.

"A coworker," Patrick replied, already accustomed to the cycle of jealousy.

But that answer was never enough. Henry would spend the early hours of the morning checking Patrick's social media, looking for suspicious interactions, comments, likes. Everything seemed like a betrayal to him.

Patrick, for his part, wasn't far behind. He too had become addicted to controlling Henry. He would ask for photos of where he said he was, make surprise video calls just to see who he was with. Once, he even showed up unannounced at Henry's house at three in the morning, convinced he was with someone else.

"I don't trust you when you're not with me," Patrick said with a broken smile. "And when you are with me, I don't trust you either."

The toxicity grew like poisonous ivy. They blocked and unblocked each other on social media every day. They ended the relationship every week, only to seek each other out again hours later with messages full of desperation:

"Without you, I am nothing."

"If you leave me, I'll die."

"If you're with someone else, I'll kill them."

Once, Henry broke Patrick's cell phone after finding an old conversation with an ex. Another time, Patrick checked Henry's work emails and wrote to a female colleague, warning her to "keep her distance."

But even so, they wouldn't let go. Love became a poisonous addiction, a prison they both decorated with broken promises. The need to control and manipulate each other was much stronger.
