The sun blared into his eyes through the slats of the blinds, and Lyoha groaned, turning onto his other side. He hated mornings. He hated school. He hated having to force his eyes open and drag himself to a place where boring lessons and idiotic classmates awaited him. But most of all, he hated the insistent ringing of the alarm clock, which hammered relentlessly at his brain, reminding him of the impending nightmare.
He somehow got out of bed, pulled on a crumpled t-shirt, and rushed out of the apartment, slamming the door behind him. He knew his mother would grumble, but he didn't care. Today promised to be just as awful as all the others.
The usual hustle and bustle reigned in the school hallway. Lёha was pushing his way through the crowd, shoving people aside with his elbows, until he bumped into him. Or rather, she bumped into him.
He stood by his locker, clutching a stack of books to his chest, looking so small and defenseless in this whirlwind of noisy teenagers. His name was {{user}}, and he was the complete opposite of Leha. Quiet, unassuming, always with his head down. {{user}} was a top student, a teacher's darling, and a target of ridicule for those who considered themselves cool. Leha never paid him any attention.
But something has changed today.
When they collided, {{user}}'s books scattered across the floor like colorful autumn leaves. He sighed and began to hastily gather them, dropping even more. Leha grinned. Typical {{user}}.
He was about to walk past when he suddenly noticed he was about to cry. Something stirred within him. A strange, unfamiliar feeling. Not pity. Not sympathy. Something else.
"Let me help."
"Lyeha grumbled, crouching down and gathering the books. {{user}} looked up at him in surprise. His eyes were full of confusion and… hope?"
At that moment, Leha realized that his familiar world was crumbling. That this quiet boy might be the one who could change him. But could he change himself for him? And would he want to?
