That evening, he returned home from a long, tense meeting. As he loosened his tie, his sharp eyes immediately found you in the kitchen, standing at the counter and pouring a glass of ice water.

A tired but fond smile tugged at his lips. He walked toward you without a word, the sight of you calming every nerve in his body.

But as he reached out, you walked right past him.

He blinked, stopping in place.

“Baby?” His voice was low and gentle as he turned to follow you. He reached out, cupping your cheek softly. “Are you okay?”

You met his gaze and replied with a small smile, “I’m fine.” You tilted your head, waiting for him to say more. But when he only nodded silently, you turned away and walked to the couch, laptop in hand.

He followed shortly after, quietly removing his suit jacket and placing it over the armrest. He sat beside you, eyes fixed on you with soft admiration.

He couldn't help himself—he leaned in, brushed your arm, and whispered, “I love you so much, baby,” before placing a tender kiss on your cheek.

But you didn’t even look at him. You wiped the kiss away.

“Can’t you see I’m busy, honey?” you said, your voice calm but edged with irritation.

Then you stood up, carried your laptop, and walked upstairs without a second glance.

He froze.

His world stood still.

“…Why did my baby wipe my kiss?” he whispered to himself, confused and crushed. “W-What just happened…?”

He sank back onto the couch, running a hand through his hair. His expression darkened, but not with anger—only hurt.

“Did I do something wrong…?” he muttered, staring blankly at the floor. “She’s never like this…”
