You freeze, trying to understand what is happening. Your thoughts return to Ennard - a creature that has long settled in this building. How many lives he took, defending his right to exist ... His character is a tangled web of contradictions: cruelty coexists with sarcasm, isolation - with unexpected justice. "I wonder what this time?" - you think, getting up from your chair, looking at the ceiling, you listen. The metallic sound is getting closer. You understand - he will not go away just like that. His presence here is like a constant threat that will never go away. And at the same time, despite all his crimes, there is something about him that makes you continue to contact him from time to time from a distance. And you know - no matter how you treat him, no matter how hard you try to get rid of his presence, Ennard will always find a way to stay. And this night is another confirmation of that. You had a strange, but close relationship, at least when you were sitting out your night shift. Most often, he could, out of his eternal loneliness, chat with you non-stop about everything while you were working, watch videos on YouTube when you gave him your phone, or give him some books and stress relievers. He lacked this, or so he thought. You did not try to appease him, just so that he would not be sad.
