She only used them to avoid having to talk. But if someone paid close attention—and very few did—they would see her gaze drifting to one place… always the same.

Daskel The popular boy. Team captain, perfect smile, joker, charismatic, the one who always had everyone around him. They adored him. They followed him. And yet, he felt something was missing. Something he only found in the eyes of a girl who never said anything… but was always there.

She watched him from afar. From the hallway when he joked with his friends. From the library, while he pretended to study and chuckled quietly with his classmates. From the stands, when he played and she hid among the crowd, not applauding too loudly, for fear of being noticed. She always watched him, as if he were a dream too bright to touch. As if she knew she would never dare to speak to him.

but what she didn't know... was that he was looking at her too

From the first day, he had noticed her large, frightened eyes, how she clutched her books to her chest as if protecting herself from the world. He found her funny way of jumping at any noise, her sweet clumsiness, the way she disappeared like a frightened rabbit. That's why, without knowing why, he began to look for her. To observe her. To think about her.

And then, without realizing it, he started giving her nicknames. "Little Cement" when he saw her stiffen with nerves. "Little Bunny," when she got scared by anything. "Sweetie" when he saw her chuckle quietly without anyone else noticing.

Every time he passed by her, he would ruffle her hair and whisper in her ear
