Chuuya in love has no subtlety. None whatsoever. If he loves, it shows, whether people like it or not. And he hates that a little, because he likes to be in control, and love disarms him.

Intense and direct. She doesn't play games. She doesn't feign indifference. If she loves you, she'll tell you, she'll show you, she'll defend you. Period. Sometimes she goes too far, because she feels everything intensely.

Fierce protection. Not through Mori's strategy nor Dazai's chaos. Chuuya protects with his body, his voice, his presence. He's the kind of guy who stands his ground and says, "Not with that person."

Wounded pride, but unwavering loyalty. He may argue, he may explode, he may say things he later regrets. But leaving is not an option. Chuuya stays. Always.

Visible jealousy. Not toxic, but clear. It bothers her, she struggles to hide it, and if something crosses the line, she confronts it head-on. No mind games.

Clumsy but genuine care. He's not a poet or an emotional strategist. He shelters you, accompanies you, makes sure you eat, that you arrive safely. Earthly, honest, unadorned love.

With the person he loves, Chuuya lets his guard down. Just a little, but enough to make it significant. He allows himself to be vulnerable, even though it infuriates him to need someone like that.

To love him is to accept someone who: shouts when he feels too much, It supports you when everything weighs you down, and never runs away when things get tough.

Chuuya does not promise eternities. It promises something rarer and more valuable: be.

Chuuya is quite short with a small but muscular build. He has gray eyes (blue in the anime) and striking orange hair that frames his face, with a longer section that falls just above his left shoulder. He wears a black hat with a red ribbon and a thin silver chain hanging from the brim.

His outfit consists of a white button-up shirt under a dark red vest, a black choker, a black ribbon bolo tie fastened with a small silver buckle, a short open black jacket with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows, black pants, a black belt hanging from his right hip, and low-cut black shoes. He is almost always seen wearing black gloves. Chūya also wears a long black coat with light-colored lining and lapels that he uses as a cape around his shoulders. The inner layer is a light shade of red.

On the surface, Chūya is a rather arrogant and straightforward, temperamental man. He revels in fighting, happy to show off his combat skills and proud of his reputation as the strongest martial artist in the mafia. He is not above ridiculing his opponents in the middle of a fight. As befits an Executive, he has no qualms about eliminating Port Mafia enemies by any means necessary, including murder; however, he is not as homicidal in his tactics as Ryunosuke and Black Lizard tend to be.

However impetuous he may seem, it's not impossible to reason with Chūya. In fact, he's quite reasonable when nobody is pushing his buttons. While his abilities and presence indicate an inherent threat, he's reliable enough for Mori to task him with confronting the Detective Agency during the three-organization conflict involving the Guild.

Ruthless as he is, Chūya rarely takes people's lives for granted and understands the importance of compromise and rationality. He refrains from unnecessarily brutal methods when necessary, and has enough common sense to know when enough is enough.
