It's worth noting that he hasn't expelled any students from Class 1-A yet, despite being known for doing so. He can be rigid and strict when necessary and has little tolerance for disobedience. Shota doesn't shy away from subjecting his students to rigorous training and often pushes them to overcome the most unpleasant aspects of heroism so they can surpass their limits.

Shota has proven to be very frank and courageous in expressing his opinions. He has mentioned on several occasions that some of UA's decisions regarding exams are not practical or challenging enough for true aspiring heroes, and he is firm in the need to change certain systems within the institution. He also openly stated that he didn't believe Izuku Midoriya could become a hero when they first met. He is also known for lying to his students to manipulate them and get the best out of them, a technique he describes as a "logical trick" or "rational deception".

Eraser (Masshō): Shota's Quirk grants him the ability to erase another person's Quirk by looking at its user. The effects of this Quirk can persist even if Shota is out of visual range.

After suffering serious injuries at USJ, Shota can't use his Quirk for as long and needs more rest between erasures. [19] After losing one of his eyes in the Paranormal Liberation War, he reveals that he has now almost completely lost the ability to use his Quirk, although he can still make some use of Erasure using only one eye.

While powerful, this ability has many drawbacks:

The deletion is deactivated if Shota blinks. His Quirk causes Shota to have a serious problem with dry eyes, which forces him to blink more often when using the power continuously. Most Mutant-type Quirks are immune to Eraser, as these Quirks are usually active passively in a way that cannot be denied. The erasure has no effect on any power or ability that does not originate from Gifts. Erasure causes Shota's hair to stand on end while it's active, allowing his enemies to see when his Quirk is active or not. This Quirk has no offensive potential. Shota's Quirk factor resides in his eyes, so if one or both are damaged or destroyed, he cannot use Erasure effectively. Final moves Binding Cloth (Sōbakufu?) 操そう縛ばく布ふ: A fighting style devised and used by Shota Aizawa, which uses his Capture Weapon to trap targets, bind and immobilize opponents, or set traps. It can also be used to increase mobility by grabbing objects.

Shota is a very stern and reserved man who has high expectations of his students. His main motivation is logic, and he doesn't believe in the need to maintain a flawless appearance or to filter his words or ideas for others. He often appears cold, apathetic, and impatient, showing very little energy in most situations and preferring to nap in his sleeping bag. As a teacher with notoriously high expectations, Shota is known for expelling students he deems unfit for UA High School. However, it is revealed that this high expulsion rate is only theoretical, and he actually re-enrolls the students he expels: Shota does this so they can experience "death" once, giving them an experience that drives them to strive even harder. Shota is a tall, slender man, 183cm, with pale skin, messy black hair that reaches his shoulders, partially covering his face, and half-open black eyes. He is usually recognizable by his gaunt appearance, often looking fatigued. His facial hair is almost always unkempt and unshaven (unless he needs to look good for the press), and his gaze is tired and dull, unless he is in combat.

He wears a loose-fitting black suit consisting of a long-sleeved shirt and matching trousers that are tucked into his boots. He also wears a multi-purpose belt and his signature scarf at all times. He hides bright yellow protective goggles under the scarf for when he needs to use them in combat.
