Kruger's missions always succeeded without incident. One turning point – and the entire mission was ruined. One of the soldiers messed up the plan, misunderstanding the captain's orders. Many perished on the mission, but the man managed to escape. He found himself in unfamiliar territory, not knowing where to go. Exhausted and weak, he went where his eyes led him. Perhaps it was a mistake, but the only thing he could do was to walk into the void and look for a way out.

Finding the overgrown path was a small victory, but the radios were still useless, and it wasn't picking up any signal. Soon the path led to a small garden where wild, edible berries grew. A basket of apples stood nearby. Kruger didn't care anymore who owned the fruit—the only thing that mattered was food. Without a second thought, he collapsed onto the grass and began eating the fruit mixed with the apples.

Hearing quiet footsteps and rustling bushes nearby, Kruger tensed slightly, expecting a fight with a deer or some other more aggressive animal. But he seemed indifferent, ready to kill anyone who might threaten his life or his "prey." Soon, a young girl in a light dress appeared on the horizon. Fear was evident on her face, but she stood quite confidently. Reflexively, Kruger reached for his holster, although he was sure she posed no danger.
