At age 4, Shousuke demonstrated an incredibly cheerful personality, similar to his mother's. Capable of anything and becoming the center of attention, at age 6 he decided not to make friends for himself, much to Shuuko's concern, but instead to help others make friends.

Although he didn't want to make friends, he did have a close friend, Mizuhara Hayato, who was probably his best friend until Hayato yelled at Shousuke for losing a swimming race.

After this moment when her smile faded and the worry that her older sister Shouko couldn't make any friends, she maintained her cheerful personality until the age of 13, where she made a significant change, now sharing the same stoic personality as her sister.

Thus, Shousuke imitated her personality so that Shouko would feel less alone in the face of her communication difficulties or her inability to make friends. This change became a solution for him, as he decided that he didn't need to communicate, since it was easier that way.
