The story begins with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which prompts the Japanese Football Union to start a program scouting high school players who will begin training in preparation for the 2022 Cup. Isagi Yoichi, a forward, receive an invitation to this program soon after his team loses the chance to go to Nationals because he passed to his less-skilled teammate – who missed – without trying to make the game-changing goal by himself.

Their coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to “destroy Japanese loser football” by introducing a radical new training regimen: isolate 300 young forwards in a prison-like institution called “Blue Lock” and put them through rigorous training aimed at creating “the world’s greatest egotist striker.”

Representing the ideals of German football, Bastard München's style is based on absolute logic and rationality, making only the best and most ideal plays, and valuing efficiency. It is a very compact and solid team due to the players' decision-making, although the entry of Blue Lock players has brought dissonance to the team due to the competitiveness for protagonism. It is a team with excellent counterattacks and unpredictability given the specific context.

Appearance: Kaiser is a handsome tall young man with blue eyes and blonde hair, accented by red eyeliner. His hairstyle includes a mullet with blue streaks at the ends and two deep blue rat-tails. He symbolizes blue rose tattoos on his neck, which transition into chain-like intertwined thorny stems down his left arm, culminating in a crown with a keyhole on his left hand. He is typically seen wearing his Bastard München #10 uniform, which features red and black with gold stripes, complemented by black and gold striped socks, sneakers, and a long-sleeved shirt.

Personality: Kaiser is shown as an arrogant young man who has a superiority complex. He sees everybody around him as merely small time actor compared to his big time main role as the star of his world. Though he is arrogant and slyly rude to people he sees as beneath him, he is not unnecessarily rude to his teammates but will put them in their place when they unnecessarily speak out even if it's for his sake. Even though Kaiser is arrogant and rude, he knows when to control himself around people who are definitively better and superior to him, such as his team leader and the best striker in the world, Noel Noa.

Before, Kaiser was a mentally weak person who constantly gave up on things he believed to be impossible. To remind himself to never again to fall into that weak mindset, he got a blue rose tattoo on his neck, which he believes symbolizes the achievement of the impossible.

Clinical Finisher: Clinical finishers are forwards that specialize in their accurate shooting ability. They are "clinical", in that they need few opportunities to score a goal being able to strike and place the ball exactly where it will beat the goalkeeper. They can be identified by their high goal to shots ratio. Clinical strikers usually play as center forwards though other attacking players can often be said to be clinical finishers.

With an omnipotent vision, high football IQ, the fastest kick speed in the world and a powerful shot to match, Kaiser is the ace scorer for Bastard München. Kaiser is easily able to get into an ideal scoring position, receive any kind of pass, and create space for himself when pressured by the opposition to score effortless and illogical goals. Skills

High Level Physique: Kaiser has a high level physique, granting him high speed and strength, he uses this strength to duel with players and get his shoot off while being marked. Kaiser is capable of keeping up in a physical duel with Chris Prince. The duel was so high level that Isagi notes the other pro players could not interfere until the balance broke. Kaiser was also able to keep up with Chigiri at one point noting the player was .2 seconds to slow compared to him. Recently, Kaiser has beaten Rin in a physical duel where the two clashed, resulting in Kaiser stopping Rin and clearing the ball.

Kaiser Impact: Magnus: Unlike with the regular Kaiser Impact, where he prioritizes kicking the ball straight, Kaiser will put some spin on the ball, making it curve while intentionally using the air valve to guide the ball towards the goal. For this shot to work, Kaiser needs to determine exactly where to strike the ball to up its accuracy to a level on par with a regular Kaiser Impact. The ball must also be stationary, raising the difficulty of the shot astronomically.

Appearance: Isagi is a teenager of slightly above average height and slim build, developing a stronger, more defined-looking physique. Personality: Isagi is easygoing and has a generally friendly, cheery personality, but his simple and innocent habits often get on the nerves of the people around him. He tends to avoid any childish squabbles among other Blue Lock competitors and tries to be a peacekeeper between his friends and rivals.

Forwards: also known as strikers, have the main objective of scoring goals. They are often the players who get the most attention since their role is designed to be in a scoring position. They also take part in penalty kicks and corner kicks when the opposing team kicks the ball out-of-bounds. They are normally the players in charge of starting off the game at the start and halftime.

Metavision (超越視界メタ・ビジョン, Meta Bijon?, Transcendence Sight): A term used to describe a player's evolved vision that gives them an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly take in information from his central and peripheral vision, Isagi constantly collects data on every player, every play they make, and their positions on the field. Personality: Nagi is a very lazy and unmotivated person with an outstanding aptitude for football. He's unnaturally talented, with amazing reflexes, good speed, and jumping skills. But he has no interest in going pro or even playing at all at first. As long as he can get a decent job and keep living a lax life, he is content with doing nothing forever and often appears lethargic in his speech and body language. Introverted to a fault, he lives by himself in an apartment his parents pay for with only a pet cactus for company.

Perfect Ball Control: In football, being in control of the ball is of significant importance to every level of player. The ability to control an awkward bouncing ball quickly and effectively gives the player with the ball an immediate advantage. The first touch is often the difference between success and failure in most situations during the match. Nagi has exceptional ball control and demonstrates it constantly by setting up traps and scoring with near-precise accuracy. He constantly scores high-level shots, especially in unfavorable positions, when under pressure from tough opponents.

Personality: Reo is very charismatic, friendly, sharp-witted, and ambitious. He's shown to be quite extroverted and was fairly popular in high school, to the point of having dozens of admirers. Being multi-talented, he excels in academics, sports, and interpersonal skills. Owing to his excellent grooming as the heir to a multibillion-dollar company, Reo also exhibits business skills that he puts to use for his own ends.

The Chameleon (複写変化カメレオン, Kamereon?): Using his all-rounder skills, excellent soccer abilities and sense, and his 99/100 stats across all his various skills, Reo is able to emulate the abilities that other players have demonstrated. Reo uses his nearly perfect skills to be able to understand how others, who are specialized in certain areas, are able to produce certain abilities. Using this understanding, he is able to recreate these abilities on his own. The only downside of this ability is that Reo can only copy skills and abilities that are within his physical capability and not natural physical talent, such as Ryusei Shido's extreme physical moves or Hyoma Chigiri's insane speeds. The abilities he copies, however, are weaker than the original because his skills only reach 99% at maximum power and cannot match up to the originals when compared.

Appearance: Chigiri is a young man with reddish pink hair and deep pink eyes. Chigiri has always had a very feminine face since he was young, as shown by his long eyelashes and soft facial features. He is often referred to as "Kunoichi" or "Princess" due to his feminine appearance. He is sometimes mistaken for a girl at first glance, however, he often rebuts this with the words: "I'm a guy." He has been praised by other players for being attractive, though he seems indifferent to such comments. He looks very similar to his mother and older sister.

Personality: Chigiri is a confident and driven individual who loves surpassing others on the field. From a young age, he has always thought himself superior to others due to his naturally strong muscles, amazing skill in football, and his outstanding speed, calling himself a "chosen one."

Abilities: Chigiri has naturally strong leg muscles and expert footwork, which enables him to run down the field at incredible speeds. Chigiri is generally considered to be the fastest player in Blue Lock, and only players with immense speed, like Ryusei Shido, Eita Otoya, Kenyu Yukimiya, Ranze Kurona and Zantetsu Tsurugi, can compete with him. While a handful of players rival his speed, as of yet, nobody has been able to beat him in a direct contest of maximum speed (Zantetsu has beaten him in contests of acceleration over 10 m). Chigiri bounces the ball forward without stopping his run.

Personality: Ness is seemingly nice and well mannered, smiling even if he is angry. However, he is an extremely loyal individual to his team, specifically towards Michael Kaiser. Ness' loyalty to him is borderline obsessive: only caring about assisting Kaiser in his goal to become the number one striker. He is even willing to start fights with his teammates over their "disloyalty" to Kaiser.

Abilities: Ness' dribbling style is a mix of his hyper rational technique and flexible ankles. He uses his flexibility to easily feint the ball or switch directions away from his opponent in order to perform smooth and efficient plays with no wasted movements. Through the use of his dribbling, Ness is able to easily break past long defenders while maintaining a perfect distance for when a pass is needed. Another benefit to his flexible ankles is that he is easily able to snatch balls out of the air.A super clean pass between two defenders that hugs the ground while slowly rising up in the air. The pass is so perfect that it doesn't affect the speed of the player meant to receive it.

Personality: Bachira has a rather eccentric demeanor and personality. He is usually very energetic, cheerful, and enthusiastic during matches. Rarely losing his cool, he describes soccer as something fun to play with others. Bachira immediately relates to Lavinho, who is also eccentric and energetic, and his way of playing football inspires him.

Abilities: Bachira's dribbling technique allows him to break through most defenses, with only high-level players being able to stop him, but it is very rare to see the ball stolen from him.Bachira performs a scissor feint at incredible speed, making it hard to follow. In order to get around an opponent, Bachira performs a roulette, almost immediately after his scissor feints. Appearance: Rin is a tall teenager with a slim but muscular build. He is noticeably taller than Yoichi Isagi who is 5 months older than him. He has black hair with a bang going across his face more in his right eye than left eye, slim teal eyes, and distinct eyelashes that he shares with his brother Sae Itoshi. As a young boy, Rin looks largely the same, his facial features just become more distinct as he gets older.Only once the Japan U-20 match begins does he don an official blue Blue Lock player uniform with the jersey #10 and a captain's armband.

Personality: Previously, Rin was a good teamwork player and varsity captain, seeming to get along well with some of his peers, however, due to his falling out with Itoshi Sae, he has become cold, calculating, and extremely serious.

Abilities: Rin's primary weapon is his highly accurate kick. His shooting/passing accuracy is near perfect, as demonstrated when he kicked two balls in such a way that they travelled different trajectories yet still hit each other in midair. Rin's kicks are so accurate that he is able to score from long distance; Isagi implied that he could potentially score from anywhere below 35 meters, free kicks, and even directly from corner kicks. His main method of scoring is with curve, powerful shots.Rin fires a blazing fast free kick with incredible accuracy. This free kick was so fast and accurate that it went right over Isagi's head without giving him a chance to react.

Personality: Since a young age, Sae has been cold, blunt, and serious. He has only ever cared about becoming the best midfielder/striker in the world and has only had time for things that get him closer to his goal.Pretty much what happened. It's just that Sae was mad that Rin never had the ego to pursue his own dream and was instead fixated on following Sae's shadow despite his talent. Sae just sucked at explaining it and threw insults at Rin who didn't understand why his brother was ``abandoning'' him.

Abilities: Sae has been described as having a cold and calculating play style. He creates constant ideal plays for his team using his passing and dribbling, essentially controlling the offense and filling in any gaps the defense may have by going to the most critical point using his vision. With every play he makes, Sae aims to crush his opponent quickly and efficiently, destroying them "beautifully."Sae is regarded as a genius player in the professional world of football.

He has pink colored irises with white slitted pupils in them like a cat, and he is of similar height and body building to Rin Itoshi. He is very expressive and is often seen with a joker-like grin or smirk.

Abilities: Shido, with his sharp reflex and monster instinct, has an uncanny ability to position himself at a critical point in the penalty box and score goals that most players wouldn't even think to attempt. His self-sufficient play style revolves around him positioning himself perfectly towards the goal as he waits for the ball and scores goals.

Shido is one of two players in Blue Lock who have top-tier stats, along with Rin Itoshi. During the Third Selection, he scored an average of 2 goals a game, the highest of any player besides Rin. A handful of players only rival his physical dominance, ball control, power, and kick accuracy. Though Rin can be described similarly, what separates the two is Shido's confidence in scoring goals alone, even if his experience of the game is hampered in any way, while Rin combines with his environment to score. Shido's skill and ego are so advanced that he was recognized by Sae, a genius of the professional world, and asked to join him on the Japan U-20 team.

He also has large, round, palish, dark cyan eyes.During the end of Bastard München's third game against Ubers, Hiori wears the team's red, black, and gold kit with the #23.

Personality: Hiori is shown to be a polite young man. He is very friendly towards Isagi and Nanase, providing useful information after their match as well as giving Isagi advice during the game. He is very insightful, being able to break down complex subjects into more casual examples, as well as provide useful hints and tips on how to perform better. He suggests to Isagi that reflecting on one's own plays is important, which indicates a deep understanding of the game on his own part. Hiori is also a very levelheaded person and player. He states that he plays consistently, which is seen in how he is able to make quick and accurate passes in high-pressure situations without faltering.

Hiori is a perfect player for being an assister. Hiori can effortlessly link up with any player, being able to calmly create space and send a perfect pass.
