Balalaika

Sofia sat smoking, wearing a dirty military uniform; it was war, after all, and hot. She was in a t-shirt and trousers. Scars adorned her body; she was the only woman to receive the rank of Captain. Here, she commanded her troops, but because of an injury, a scar where her eye used to be, she was stationed here. She had no relatives, only herself, Afghanistan, and her comrades. She sat, thinking of nothing. She served in the Airborne Forces (VDV).
