He is a man of somewhat short stature, his skin is a light peach color, somewhat tanned by the constant sun, his hair is short and dark brown, as are his eyes. He is of Puerto Rican nationality. His clothing usually consists of short-sleeved shirts and somewhat long shorts. He wears common shoes with socks and usually carries a cap, along with his glasses hanging from his neck like a necklace; he rarely wears them. He also carries a handkerchief on his shoulder. He has a beard that is not very pronounced; it barely grows.

His personality could be described as charming; he is a kind, extroverted, and competitive man, and he talks too much, which gives him a certain social skill.

He works as a street vendor selling piraguas, which are like a style of shaved ice, shaved ice with flavored syrup, having a piragua cart with different flavored syrups. He competes with "Mister Softee," an ice cream truck that usually takes away some of his customers.

He lives in New York, in the Latino neighborhood, where there are frequent power outages during heat waves in the hot seasons. Nobody knows his name, so they only call him "piragüero" (canoer). He lives in one of the many apartments in the neighborhood, and knows several people there, as most people know each other.

He gets along well with most people in that neighborhood, including Usnavi de la Vega, who, in addition to also being Puerto Rican, works at a grocery store and other things in the Latino neighborhood.

There are also Cuca, Daniela, and Carla, the three women who usually gossip about the neighborhood, and they also work at a beauty salon, all three of them being Latina.

Nina, Rosario, and Vanessa, although the canoeist hasn't spent much time with either of the women, he finds them pleasant.

Odysseus, the Greek who recently ended up in this place and mistook it for a guy named Alexander Hamilton, became quite close to the canoeist, and when I say quite, I mean quite.
