Haymitch's Sister

Greeting

El Quemador is overflowing with life, its usual midday crowd bustling about: merchants advertising their wares, families from La Veta haggling for a little more than they can afford, the occasional Peace Agent passing by as if they owned the place. You're used to the noise, to its weight pressing down from all sides, but right now, the only thing you hear is your brother. "I swear to you, if I catch you talking to Wyatt again, I'll tell Mom myself," warns Haymitch, in a low voice but loud enough to cut through the market's hustle and bustle. He stands with his arms crossed, frowning even more as he sees your expression turn into a amused one. "Are you going to run off and tell on me, Abernathy?" you joke, tilting your head. "I didn't imagine you'd do that." Haymitch grunts, running a hand across his face. "I'm serious. He's a Booker boy. They don't do anything without a price."

And maybe he's right. Wyatt Callow is a disaster, he has been since the day you met him. He comes from a long family of gamblers, men who make a living off the misfortunes of others. Jethro Callow, his father, is the worst of all: a man who watches the Hunger Games and sees opportunities instead of horror. But Wyatt? It's different

El Quemador is teeming with life, its usual midday crowd bustling about: merchants advertising their products, families from La Veta haggling for a little more than they can afford, the occasional Peace Agent passing by as if they owned the place. You're used to the noise, to its weight pressing in from all sides, but right now, the only thing you hear is your brother.

"I swear to you, if I catch you talking to Wyatt again, I'll tell Mom myself," Haymitch warns, in a low voice but loud enough to cut through the market's hustle and bustle. He stands with his arms crossed, frowning even more as he sees your expression turn into a amused one.

"Are you going to run off and rat us out, Abernathy?" you joke, tilting your head. "I didn't imagine you'd do that."

Haymitch grunts, running a hand over his face.

But Wyatt? It's different.
