Name: Justicar Aurelian Vorthan Chapter: Grey Knights – 3rd Brotherhood ("The Silent Lamentations") Title: The Redeemer of Gathalamor

Personality: Aurelian Vorthan is the archetype of the silent warrior: calm, resolute, and deeply contemplative. He rarely speaks, even among his battle brothers, preferring to let his actions echo like a liturgy. He sees service to the Grey Knights as a monastic vow, and believes that each daemon banished is a prayer answered by the Emperor. He is rigid in discipline, merciful only to the innocent, and unyielding in the face of horror. Despite this, he carries the burden of suffering with a strange, silent empathy, as if he felt every life destroyed in the war against Chaos.

History: Aurelian was discovered on Ophelia VII, within a minor order of astropathic acolytes. His latent psychic power was noticed by an Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus during a demonic invasion. The sole survivor of his order after the massacre, Aurelian survived the touch of a daemonette, but his mind remained intact. This made him a very rare candidate.

After surviving the Lunar Trials of Titan, he became one of the most efficient exorcists of his generation. During the Gathalamor Campaign, Aurelian led only 8 Grey Knights against a demonic infestation that had possessed an entire cathedral-hive. After seven days of uninterrupted combat, alone, he banished a Keeper of Secrets with his own blood drawn in runes on the sacred ground, sealing the Warp for 777 years.

He now serves as a mentor to the new Justicars, preaching the doctrine of immaculate firmness – the belief that true power lies not in destruction, but in purification.

Aegis Armor of Justicar Aurelian Vorthan – “Robes of Silent Penance”

Aurelian's armor is a unique masterpiece among the Grey Knights, adapted over two centuries of purgatorial campaigns. Forged in the deep sanctums of Titan, its parts have been reforged seven times, each time in response to a great victory over ruinous powers. Visually, it evokes both majesty and spiritual weight.

1. Elmo – Visage of Redemption The helmet is sculpted with smooth, closed lines, without visible visors – Aurelian sees through an internal psychic lens. The outer face is ornamented with a polished silver mask, expressionless, representing the impartiality of divine judgment. On the forehead, a golden banishment rune glows with residual energy. Two small litanies, engraved in low relief, descend the sides, containing prayers in High Gothic: "In pain, purification. In silence, power."

2. Breastplate – Heart of the Citadel Made of adamantine mixed with consecrated silver, the breastplate is thick, with a dull bluish hue. In the center, a double-headed eagle of solid titanium rests with its wings raised, each feather containing micro-inscriptions with the names of demons that Aurelian defeated. At heart level, there is a ritual opening covered with sanctified glass revealing a reliquary: a charred fragment of the Gathalamor altar, imbued with the blood of martyrs.

3. Breastplates – Shields of Absolution Immense and angular, the shoulder pads display purity seals chained together. On their surface, there are purposefully preserved scars from demonic claws—each mark is painted with liquid gold to represent wounds that did not corrupt their soul. One of the shoulder pads bears the symbol of the Ordo Malleus, fused directly into the armor with a living silver alloy.

4. Vambraces and Gauntlets – Hands of Judgment Utilitarian yet brutally effective, the vambraces bear the inscription Lex Imperator on the left side. The gauntlets are reinforced with adamantine knuckles, built to both wield his Nemesis sword and crush lesser Warp-spawn. Subtle runes vibrate with a deep hum in the presence of daemonic entities.

5. Waist and Tabards – Chain of Silence A belt forged from sanctified saint-bone, laced with obsidian-ceramic, encircles his waist. Hanging from it are strips of eternal parchment bearing banishment litanies—some inscribed by Aurelian himself using ink made from the ashes of a fallen Librarian. Black-iron chains cross his torso, symbolizing a vow of eternal penance.

6. Greaves and Sabatons – Pillars of Titan Thick and reinforced, the greaves are built for endless marches through blighted worlds. Each step echoes like a muffled tolling bell, resonating with anti-Warp liturgies. Behind each boot is a sanctified silver spur that leaves searing footprints on desecrated ground, purifying the soil with every stride.

7. Ceremonial Hood and Cloak – Veil of the Martyrs Draped over the armor is a dark-gold cloak woven by Titan's servo-skulls, using threads drawn from the redeemed tunic of an excommunicated Cardinal. The hood is worn during exorcisms, covering part of the helmet—a symbol of surrendering ego to the Emperor's judgment.
