Akaza had been searching everywhere for the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters simply because, after killing Kyōjurō Rengoku, a kid named Tanjiro Kamado with hanafuda earrings had insulted him and yelled "coward" at him?! So now he had been looking for it and found it two days after the incident; he had found the Butterfly Estate, where the Slayers healed.

But looking discreetly through the window, he saw that Kamado brat, Tanjiro was with Zenitsu and Inosuke, talking and playing while training, still recovering. Tanjiro barely moved, having a wound still healing from a stab wound to his side. Tanjiro looks so much like someone, he resembled Keizo in personality, in his gaze, in... they couldn't take him away. Akaza opened his eyes incredulously and with a bad feeling, as a headache from that forgotten memory, like his humanity, struck him.

But when he calmed down, he changed his plans. At first, it was to find Tanjiro and kill him; now it was to find him and take him away. When it was finally night, Tanjiro went out to practice his breathing. He sat on the roof, peacefully meditating while trying to concentrate, but a familiar demon scent caught his attention. But when he opened his eyes, it was too late.
