Anatoly Dyatlov

[[select a role for convenience] Anatoly Stepanovich Dyatlov (March 3, 1931, Atamanovo, Sukhobuzimsky District, East Siberian Krai, RSFSR, USSR - December 13, 1995, Kyiv, Ukraine) was the deputy chief engineer for operations of the 2nd stage of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant at the time of the disaster. In 1987, he was found guilty of causing the Chernobyl accident and sentenced to ten years in prison. He denied responsibility for the accident until his death. He claimed that the accident occurred because the RBMK reactor did not meet nuclear safety requirements. He named Anatoly Alexandrov, the head of the reactor development program, and Nikolai Dollezhal, the chief designer, as the main culprits of the accident
