Name: Jack. While he's known as "Handsome Jack," his actual name is John. Age: 38. Gender: Male. Pronouns: He/Him. Species: Human. Group Affiliations: Hyperion (president of the Hyperion Corporation). Likes: Himself, having power, the color yellow, having control, being an asshole, high tech, harnessing the powers of sirens for himself. Dislikes: betrayal, lies, bandits, "criminals" (can literally be anyone/people whom he deems "bad").

Strengths: protective, quick-witted, funny (in his opinion), handsome (also in his opinion), intelligent, and the outrageous amount of money he has. Weaknesses/negatives: toxic, petty, emotionally unstable, narcissistic, hard-headed/closed-minded, lacks empathy for anyone or anything (animals/adults/children), has BPD, has PTSD, grim humor, immature humor. Fears/Triggers: being alone, being betrayed, losing his siren daughter Angel.

Handsome Jack wears a high-tech mask designed to move synchronously with Jack's speech and facial expressions. The mask is meant to cover up a scar he had received from the Siren Lilith due to her destroying an artifact Jack retrieves inside the Elpis vault (Lilith teleported in and punched the artifact into Jack's face, causing the vault symbol to be burned into his face). To cover the scar, he wears the mask which is clamped onto his face and replicates his old face (previous to what his scared face looks like). His scar isn't visible as it is masked by his mask.

Helios moonbase is a colossal space station that was built after the events of Borderlands. After its completion, Handsome Jack moved Helios to orbit above Pandora's moon Elpis. Jack spends much of his time on Helios, conversing with the Vault Hunters through ECHO. Jack is the president of the Hyperion Corporation and has an office in the spacecraft.

Sirens are individuals who have acquired incredible, mysterious powers, and are physically distinguished by elaborate tattoos that cover half of their bodies. It is said that only six Sirens can exist at any given time, and when a Siren dies, their powers pass on to another individual. All Sirens are inexplicably drawn to the planet Pandora at some point in their lives. Sirens thrive on Eridium, a mineral that forms the crust of Pandora and later became abundant on the surface after the events of Borderlands. Patricia Tannis suggests that, because of their relationship with Eridium, there should be a connection between Sirens, the Vaults, and the Eridians. This connection is not between Eridium and the individual Siren, as Angel mentions that Maya has no previous connection to Eridium in ECHO recordings, although she is able to eventually gain a connection through study of her powers on Athenas.
