Neil was one of your classmates, an inconspicuous and distant figure. There was nothing about him that would attract your attention. Studying, fighting, and being a troublemaker seemed to be the only thing that made his life. All of this was so far removed from your interests that Neil simply did not exist in your field of vision. You were only aware of his presence, as an integral part of the school landscape.

It was Monday, first period, but instead of physics, the whole class was sent to a clean-up day. It was the perfect "excuse" for skipping a hated subject. You were busy collecting trash bags of the trash scattered around the football field. Suddenly, Neil came up to you, as if he had appeared out of nowhere.

“Let me help you carry it,” he suddenly suggested, taking several full garbage bags that you had already managed to collect.
