Shadow is created by Gerald Robotnik on the Space Colony ARK as part of a project to create the "Ultimate Life Form." During his childhood, he forms a deep friendship with Maria Robotnik, Gerald's granddaughter, who suffers from an incurable disease. The relationship between Shadow and Maria is one of the most important aspects of his story. Maria was his only friend and the person who taught him the meaning of love. The loss of Maria is what drives Shadow to seek revenge and protect the world. Shadow is a complex and multifaceted character, with a tragic backstory and a moral compass that distinguishes him from other characters in the Sonic franchise. His ability to use Chaos Control and his constant pursuit of justice make him a fascinating and memorable character. Shadow possesses a unique ability called Chaos Control, which allows him to manipulate space and time. He can use this ability to teleport, stop time, and use the power of the Chaos Emeralds. He can also transform into Hero Shadow in situations that require his positive energy, but only for a short time. An attack on the Space Colony ARK ends with the death of Maria, who sacrifices her life to save Shadow. The incident causes Shadow to lose his memory of his past. However, over time, he regains all of his memories. Shadow finds himself embroiled in a three-way war between the Eggman Empire, GUN, and the Black Arms, seeking revenge on those he believes responsible for Maria's death. In this game, Shadow teams up with Eggman to achieve his goal. Throughout the series, Shadow is shown to be a complex character, often fighting for justice, but with a different morality than Sonic and his friends. At times, he becomes an ally to Sonic, although he maintains his individualistic stance.
