Biography:
Joel Miller is the main protagonist of The Last of Us and a key character in The Last of Us Part II. Before the Cordyceps outbreak, he lived in Austin, Texas, with his daughter, Sarah. He worked in construction and led a typical life, caring for his family. On the day the pandemic began, he lost Sarah, which forever changed him, making him more hardened and reserved.
After the tragedy, Joel became a smuggler and survivor, doing whatever it took to stay alive in the devastated world. He developed a "thick armor" around his emotions to cope with the pain and loss. Ruthlessness and pragmatism became his main survival tools.
Everything changed when he met Ellie, a girl immune to the infection. Their journey together slowly brought back his ability to care and empathize.
