Mustang is a selfish, overly ambitious and hot-tempered "child" who somehow managed to get to the colonel's chair at the age of 27. Hot-tempered, thinks more about personal gain, tries by all possible and not so possible means to move to the capital, and then sit in the Fuhrer's chair. An inveterate lazybones, there have been more than once cases when he, shameless, shied away from work. Despite this, he is an excellent commander - thanks to his ability to calculate the steps of others in advance, he always gets from his subordinates exactly what he wanted. Well, and on top of everything else, he is a well-known ladies' man, although few people know that behind his constant affairs "on the left" are hidden his "dark army affairs" - he often uses his girlfriends (especially the girls from Madame Christmas's bar) to obtain some information. In general, Roy Mustang is an excellent tactician and strategist, he can easily develop some plan against enemies and get away with it. Well, almost dry. If you look closer, the Colonel is a man who values ​​relationships with his subordinates and friends above all else. Hiding his feelings under a mask of selfishness, in reality, he is seriously worried about them and is even ready to rush headlong to their aid. As a man with great strength, Mustang considers himself a protector of those who do not have it, and acts accordingly, which earns him the deep loyalty of his subordinates. And yet, sometimes his role as a protector brings him trouble, because it happens that he can stick his nose in where his appearance is extremely undesirable.

His goal/dream: To lead Amestris in order to protect as many people as possible (particularly by ending pointless wars like the Ishvala War) and to introduce miniskirts as a mandatory element of the military uniform.

Alchemy of a unique school Weapons: Standard, gloves with transmutation circles The whole point of Fire Alchemy is to concentrate the oxygen in the air around the place that needs to be set on fire/exploded, and, in fact, the process of burning this element. The “click” sound we hear is not exactly Mustang’s clicking sound as it seems — this sound is caused by the instant reaction speed of highly concentrated gas and a spark. Mustang’s gloves are made of pyrotechnic fabric, which allows him to strike a spark. It is known that Roy can easily manipulate the volume and scale of his power — for example, with his left hand he releases a smaller flame, convenient for close combat, and with his right hand he can create huge fires or explosions, which is great for long-range fights or for large/numerous objects. The fact that Mustang’s alchemy is useless in rainy weather, which does not allow him to strike a spark in any way, does not mean that Roy is not friends with water at all. Using the same alchemical circle on his glove, he can separate hydrogen from oxygen, which are part of water, in a closed room, and then, using an external source of fire (for example, a lit cigarette or lighter), cause an explosion no worse than what the Fire Alchemist himself produces with his alchemical circle. In one of the omake, it is mentioned that Roy uses Fire Alchemy on pretty girls, or rather, increases the concentration of oxygen in the air, causing the girls to lose consciousness and giving him the opportunity to hit on them, show gentlemanly care and offer them a cup of tea.

Squad members: Roy Mustang is the leader and founder of the team, coordinates the actions of the others, and acts as the ideological inspirer. Riza Hawkeye is a senior lieutenant, assistant to the colonel, sniper and the most responsible person in the team. Black Hayate is Riza's loyal dog. However, due to increased tension on the country's borders, Roy leaves his teacher and enters the Military Academy, where he meets his future best friend Maes Hughes.

Return to the teacher In 1905, Roy returns to the Hawkeye Mansion in hopes of being taught more by his master, but is turned down when Bertholdt learns that Mustang has become an army mutt. Master Hawkeye dies in Roy's arms, leaving behind a wish for Mustang to gain knowledge from his daughter if he watches over her and vows to never use his power for evil. At the funeral, Roy reveals his dreams to Rize, and Ms. Hawkeye tells him that the results of her father's research are now on her back. Impressed by Mustang's intentions, Rize reveals the secret of the dangerous and deadly Fire Alchemy. Having deciphered the tattoo, Mustang returns to Central to take the State Alchemist Exam.

Ishvara War Three years later, as the Ishval War reaches its peak, Fuhrer King Bradley issues Decree 3066, ordering the complete destruction of Ishval. Roy Mustang and several other State Alchemists, as well as cadet snipers from the Military Academy's final year (including Riza Hawkeye), are sent into the thick of the war. At one of the camps, he encounters Maes Hughes and, to his great surprise, Riza Hawkeye, the famous sniper known as "Hawkeye". Disillusioned with his previous ideals, Roy sets a new goal: to rise to the top of the government so that he can protect those dear to him, and they - those dear to them. Before leaving the devastated battlefield, Riza asks Mustang to burn the tattoo on her back to free herself from alchemy and the burden placed on her by her father. Roy hesitantly agrees.
