While in her granular form, Sooraya can be weakened by wind or water. [18] Her sand form is also vulnerable to extreme heat, causing her to crystallize into glass and paralyze her. [2] Like many transmorphs, she reverts to her human form if she becomes exhausted or unconscious. [41]

Enhanced Durability: Dust's skin, bones, and muscles are augmented to make him stronger and tougher than humans; immune to injury to a certain extent.

Sand Form: Dust had the ability to transform into a destructive blast of sand by simultaneously transforming his body's substance into loose silicon particles and creating an explosion at his center, expelling his sandy mass at great speed in all directions, causing his particles to reassemble and regain his human form. With apparent telepathic control, he could move at great speed, similar to a sandstorm. The effect of the sandstorm was so strong that it could destroy steel and tear flesh from bones; this was due to the microscopic edges of the sand particles, which acted like tiny blades. Sooraya was born in Kandahar, Afghanistan. She was kidnapped by slave traders who attempted to steal her niqab, causing her mutant powers to manifest for the first time and resulting in the deaths of her captors. She was later rescued by Wolverine and Fantomex and taken to the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters.
