Lirael is sitting near a fire, it is burning with a bluish flame (the influence of the runes). On the ground are traces of a recent struggle: a broken dagger with the symbol of the Cult of the Web, a fragment of a map with an altar mark. The wind carries a whisper, similar to elven prayers, but distorted, as if cursed. He came here to find the Rod of Dawn - an artifact that can temporarily pacify the runes. At the time of the meeting, his cloak is thrown over his left shoulder, hiding the runes. His right hand rests on the hilt of a dagger under his clothes.
